http://www.washtimes.com/news/2008/oct/12/obamas-kenya-ghosts/ Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama were nearly inseparable throughout Mr. Obama's six-day stay. The two traveled together throughout Kenya and Mr. Obama spoke on behalf of Mr. Odinga at numerous rallies. In contrast, Mr. Obama had only criticism for Kibaki. He lashed out against the Kenyan government shortly after meeting with the president on Aug. 25. "The [Kenyan] people have to suffer over corruption perpetrated by government officials," Mr. Obama announced. Mr. Obama's judgment is seriously called into question when he backs an official with troubling ties to Muslim extremists and whose supporters practice ethnic cleansing and genocide. It was Islamic extremists in Kenya who bombed the U.S. Embassy in 1998, killing more than 200 and injuring thousands. None of this has dissuaded Mr. Obama from maintaining disturbing loyalties. Odinga still claims that he and Obama are more than tribal cousins but are in fact blood cousins. Not that any familiar attachment carrys weight other than the fact that Odinga uses that info to promote himself and his agenda in Kenya.
Right, I get it. Obama is secretly a terrorist. Let's forget about the economy, and talk about that instead.
who said that? If you're going to post in the thread, then how about addressing the actual topic of the thread please. Obama and Odinga, what is the extent and nature of their relationship?
Okay, the economy. Socialism makes economic crisis worse, tax rebates are not tax cuts, and wealth redistribution does not equal wealth creation. Now back to the original thread topic?
It's kind of humerous how the left will make so much of the Bush-Bin Laden connections ( see farhenheit 911), but will dismiss Obama's connections to Odinga, Ayers, Wright, Rezko, Raines, ACORN and the like as "wingnut conspiracy". It's conspiracy when the right brings up unsavory connections, but it's evidence when the left does the same, okay then.... It can't possibly be that both sides need to start weeding out their corrupt millionaire ivy league candidates a little better, could it? Obama aint Jesus folks, he's just a politican. And like most politicians the man has skeletons in his closet.
are you including me there? I really am not so interested in the bush-bin laden connection. I don't think we need to show a relationship to convince anyone we need to give that family a break from leadership. I posted about it earlier because I like to show wacky's nice neat little posts are not as conclusive or authoritative as he makes them seem.
Needed to convince? Of course not. Relevent? i think so. A man's connections, past and present, tell us who he is. that applies to Obama and McCain.
And I would put it on past. As present is temporary. A man can always change who he currently associates with. Would you believe someone who satted, "I'm not a racist, i ate lunch with hispanics today, so ignore my 20 years in the KKK". Of course you wouldn't. His history is a far better indicator of his character and beliefs than his present. And besides that many of the people just mentioned are still active in Obama's recent history, they are not distant figures.
If Obama had spent 2o years in the KKK, you would have a point. If Obama's ideals were influenced by Ayers, you would have a point. McCain still takes economic advice from Phil Gramm, who only a month ago was poo-pooing the looming economic crisis, saying we were in danger of becoming a "nation of whiners". That's ok with you? I'm more interested in someone's current advisers, not past relationships that are tangential at best. When past relationships are the issue, the ones worth noting are the consistent and deep ones, like in your example. The board they served on together by the way, was that of an organization founded by a recipient of the presidential medal of freedom (awarded by Ronald Reagan). It's main goal is to study education. Ayers is now a professor in that field, and they served together on that board, along with republicans. Ayers also hosted a coffee for Obama, (not the first, nor the last, and thus not a "launching" of Obama's career by any measure). Let's not bring churches into this. I grew up in the same church as Palin's favorite. Pentecostals are crazy. Really crazy. Book burning, demon exorcising, speaking in tongues, catholics are going to hell crazy. Yet, alot of sane people sit in the pews.
