I'm still most likely going to vote Conservative. Debates don't really sway me either way. I do have more respect for Dion though after watching the debate (more so the French one, didn't watch much of the English debate)

I know a lot of people fear a Harper government, I'm scared shitless of a layton government. I'd swim to Europe if he ever got in.

Debates should sway you if new information comes in.

    I'm voting Green.

I've done a complete 360 almost with who I'm going to vote for.

Now I'm leaning towards the Liberals. Not because of Dion though I've warmed to him, but because of the possible financial problem were facing. Liberals have generally been best at managing the economy during times like this.

Green still somewhat a possibility because I like the guy in my riding.

Conservatives have dropped considerably for me. But still a consideration.

And NDP...Well, I still stand by with what I've said before about the NDP. It's the only party that will cut tax breaks to corporations. In return the corporations will either leave the country or fire a good majority of people, either-way putting more people on the unemployment line.
And the idea of giving people $5000 per child each year is insane. What they currently get is ridiculous ($1200).

All-in-all, I've always had a pretty good idea of who I was going to vote for by now, but this time round I'm stumped.

I'm glad for that (no offense)!

Is there any particular reason you'd vote Harper?

I was driving by the shopping plaza area in our neighbourhood and saw some Liberal signage that struck me as odd - so I went into the candidate's office and asked.

The CBC were there interviewing, what I think was the campaing manager over some signage damage and stuff that had been going on in our riding.

When the interview was over I approached the guy.

"Problems with signs, eh? I've seen some Conservative signs in trees and stuff...but this is interesting 'cause I've got a question of my own about your signage.

You guys are pushing the enviroment and the green stuff pretty hard this time around, right?"

"That's right, the cabron tax credit and blah x and blah y..."

"Ok. That's cool. But don't you think as a party that's pushing hard on the green agenda that perhaps advertizing yourself by putting signs and banners all over a STRECH LIMO SUV is sending out some mixed messages? "

The guy was pretty good. He was pretty smooth and said he could see what I was saying but that his cousin owned the limo and wanted to support them but then he mentioned that guy keeps his signage on when he's working at night driving people and that it was funny how nobody had seem to have had a problem with it (until me). Of course I make a Calgary joke here 'cause in the land Hummers and oil, most people probably wouldn't even think twice about it.

He said he didn't want to make his cousin feel bad by saying no or turning down his support but I gotta say as someone who as seen the nitty gritty dirt that goes down in elections (my dad's an elected municipal big wig back home) and you know what - it matters more how you present yourself and your ideals to the rest of us than hurting a cousin's feelings. That's just the way it goes.

Then we just went on talking about riding stuff, carbon tax stuff and strategic voting.

One thing I'll give the Liberals, their supporters can make one helluva spiced tea. There were some Indian treats that looked pretty good too but I stuck with the tea. The fellow passing them out was such a sweetheart.

    Anyways, just thought I'd share.

    Just got back from voting...
I opted to vote for who I like in my riding, rather than PM...I'm not at all impressed with any of the party leaders.
I happen to like the Green Party guy in my riding, so I voted for him.
All-in-all, this was an election where I was ripping my hair out from not knowing who to vote for.

I did vote conservative....I used to always vote Liberal until the last election

...I just like the idea that there has been no huge scandals of wasting money and giving friends high paying contracts for bullshit reports and stuff like the liberals did......

Well, minority it is....that's fo sho.

I'm just grateful they didn't get a majority, that would've been really disappointing. For the next election, I'm hoping for a very strong Liberal leader, a Conservative screwup, more seats for NDP and Green and definitely PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.

It boggles the mind that we haven't made the move towards electoral reform considering the results of our elections. Look at the quantity of seats the Conservatives have won, and then compare it to the percentage of votes they actually got, it does not add up. FPTP is not a good way to measure what kind of government the people want in a country like Canada. We need reform.

I wonder how long it will be until the next election... a year or two? Less than a year? People are getting sick of this, we need some kind of change now.

The Liberals would be back on top......and probably back in line if they had Justin Trudeau as leader

In my area one riding remained NDP....and the neighbouring riding gained an NDP who defeated a long standing(now retired)Liberal

I was going to vote for Harper, as out of all the leaders, he would make and has made the best PM.

I just opted this time to vote for the person I liked in my riding, which just happened to be green. This is one reason why I'd like to see the way we vote in Canada changed.
I'd like to be able to vote for a person or party in my riding, then be able to select who I want as PM. So this time round I'd select green for my area, but Harper for PM.

Either way, the Conservative in my city won by a landslide this time round.

And just curious, why didn't you vote?

With the mandate that Harper got, he will run the country as if he has a majority.
No party will want to bring them down for AT LEAST another two years.

And if some party or parties do bring them down, then you can defiantly being saying hello to a Harper majority.

the truly sad thing about a harper minority means that we will be back at the polls within a year and have nothing to show for it. the conservatives are not all that bad on a national level, i wouldnt trust them near the provincial government but federal isnt so bad.

Don't be to sure about another election within a year or even two. Canadians are fed up with going to the polls, Harper got his mandate from the people. But if by chance there is another one soon, I'm all but positive people will give Harper a majority.

    Side note:
I think the truly sad thing about this election, was the turn out...58% turnout, lowest in Canadian history.

What sort of mandate is it when barely over 1/3 of the voters voted for your party?

    I effing hate this country.
