when in your pregnancy did you stop working? i know everybodies different and what you do effects this~~~ but humor me....
I was in school for the first couple months, then when the semester ended, I wasn't going to work. But, then I got bored, so I got a part-time job, 3 days a week, and I worked until a couple weeks before I was due. I think working part-time is perfect if you're pregnant, as long as it fits your money situation.
With my first pregnancy, I worked full-time (on my feet) up until the night my daughter was born at 42 weeks. I had no problems.....a little tired, but otherwise okay. With my current pregnancy, I'm 14 weeks and I'm ready to quit!!! Ughhh.....I come home exhausted and feel like crap all day long. I'm going to try and work up until I'm due though, as long as there are no complications. I may go down to part-time after Christmas if we can swing it financially. I think it does depend on the person, the pregnancy, the financial situation, etc. I'm just looking forward to being home with the family.... ~peace~
I quit working when I was 7 months pregnant with my first son, back in '99. Now, 5 years later, and two more children whom are 16.5 month old twins, making a grand total of three little ones, I have been a stay-at-home mommy for this entire time and love it. Peace.
hippychick momma~~~thats awsome! Working as a nanny, has really made me see how important it is to children to have mommy or daddy home with them. I always planned on doing it, but i have really experienced children who are desperate for their parents...at times it has been a sad profession. Granted, sometimes finances will not allow parents to stay at home, but most families who have nannies, can afford to be home~its more of a lifestyle adjustment that needs to be accepted. right know the family i work for has a work at home mom, which is good bc she doesnt miss the really important stuff, and can be there to comfort her children when only mommy will do. BUT let me tell you another family i worked for was sad...i was there 50 HOURS a week, the parents wouldnt even see the kids in the morning, the house was dirty(not my job to clean~but i wound up doin it anyway), the kids were constantly sick, horrible nutrition, and the kids were starving for attention.....sigh...........i had to leave bc i was going crazy...felt bad for leaving the kids though.... ANYWAY, i'm 7 months preg, and feeling ready to throw in the towel. BUT my husband and i are trying to save as much $as possible before the baby comes....since i'll be staying home. I'm cutting down to 3 days a week next week, and i cant wait!! Some time in nov. i'll be done...ps i'm due dec. 20th. big belly hugs, jenn
i detailed cars (pretty strenuous, if you ask me) until i was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my first; i was 18 years old though, lol, so i think it was actually good for me, to get a little exercise every day. When i was pregnant with my daughter almost two years later, i was a SAHM, and let me tell you, i wish i'd been working, because i got really fat (lol) and haven't been able to lose any of it, more than a year later!
The beginning of my second trimester, for the most part. I have high risk pregnancies, and needed to be on bed rest after that. With Sage (my last) I did rent pumps until the end. I rented my last pump a few days before she was born and didn't have a good one in the house when I got home and needed a couple of pumpings as she was too little to keep up with my supply. (She was early and came home at about 5 lbs. She could nurse very well, but only as much as a 5 lb baby takes, but as she was my fourth kid, I had enough milk for quints!) I used a really old battery operated pump. I knew when I was renting that last pump I might not have one in the house, but had never needed one post partum before. I always feel for moms who work until they go into labor. I hear first time moms say "I can get some rest when the baby comes...." ROTFLMAO!!!!
Midwife's advice! Every pregnant mommy needs some time towards the end of her pregnancy to rest, relax, get in touch with her baby, finish those last minute details, and just enjoy being pregnant. Sometimes your body just won't labour until your mind is ready and clear of outside stress. I know for many of us, taking off from work is financially impossible. But try to give yourself at least 3 weeks before baby comes.
Thankyou rainbow, and congratulations on your pregnancy! My oldest son is a December baby. He was due the 7th, but came the 2nd. My hubby and I were saving up money while I was pregnant with our oldest son too. Actually, we decided to take all of the money I made, which wasn't much though (I was a medical secretary) and put it into our savings account, and just live on my hubby's income to get a feel of what it would be like to better prepare us for later. It helped us a lot. Good luck to you! Congratulations again! Peace, love, and happiness
I didn't work at all when I had the first 3 babies. When I was pregnant with the 4th child I worked until I was 8 months pregnant. With my last pregnancy I worked till 11 days before she was born. All of my babies were born late.
