Greetings everyone; I had my first experience as a street performer the other day. I was waiting for my buddy to finish eating with his family so we could blaze and have an acoustic jam session. So I walked down the street to the public library and sat outside with my bongo's for awhile. I've been playing the bongo's a little under a month now and already I'm getting pretty wicked at them. I practice everyday after guitar and vocals and I have such an intense craving to start a drum circle now. Honestly, the whole time I was outside only one person passed me (Its the saturday before thanksgiving here in Canada and people are usually in with their families) but she thought it was good enough to comment on it. Now as well as wanting to start a drum circle, I really have another fantasy. I want to travel to the nearest big city, with one instrument and maybe anothe buddy with an isntrument. I will only bring enough cash for the bus ride there and back. Then see if I can survive for a week off just my instrument and whatever else I can make some petty cash off of. Besides selling my body . Of course if things turn badly I'll still have my cash for the bus ride home in case of an emergency or if I can't pull it off. I just think this would be an amazing experience. If anyone has any advice or experience on the subject it's more tha welcome peace and love Changes
yeah bro, that sounds like an awesome plan. just choose good locations, be confident and proud of what you play, and you should be set
do it! I got by street performing before with my fire spinning stuff and guitar...I was sleeping in parks and dumpster diving but like that's cause that's how I roll. You'll do fine and prob meet lots of lovley people! Where is your closest city?
when i was bumming around boston all i had was my guitar and the clothes on my back. spanging always made me more money, but it was more personally rewarding to play the guitar. tip:if you sing and interact with the passers-by you will make a bunch more dough. don't be afraid to ask people for fives and tens, especially on Fridays and Saturdays when the drunks are out.
wow dude i tryed that sorta thing what i did was just walk around with ma guitar and confidence and carisma that is my seceret it work for me but you have to be interactive or most will ignor you
I've got lots of advice if you want to expand your horizons and perhaps travel the world doing what you love. I was able to perform across America, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Australia, and Europe...specifically Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands as a busker (street performer). I met hundreds of like-minded performers doing similar shows along the winding way. I found a vibrant life, beautiful scenery, tons of video footage, and several loves busking my way around the world. If you're serious, your first stop should be to read up as much as you can starting with the reference site www.BuskerCentral.com and then the home page in my profile from deep in the heart of Busker Alley! ...or you could flip burgers (First Post) :hat:
