That guy is the man, I remember renting slacker, and thinking it was gonna be another dazed and confused, stoner movie, but after watching all the thoughtful dialogue, i was impressed.

    Peace and Love,

actually clinton bombed iraq.......all bush did was pave the way for him and his oil investor friends to make a shit ton of money from the new oil companies that they get to start up.....of course after they pay off the french and the russians and who ever else had money invested in iraq.....think about it, 2nd largest oil reserve in the world.....a whole list of ex-oil exec's running the show.....just fucking think about it....then think about what we have to gain from iraq...not only will we have oil, cheap, plentiful, wonderful oil....but we'll also be able to keep our eye on our good friend israel, and make sure no bad muslims beat them up if we(the US) have such a large presence in The United States of Arabia, and then we can really keep an eye on our other good friend Iran....huh...iran, iraq....well at least one of them actually has WMD's...and just think, we were only off by one letter....that's not to bad is it....Bush has his agenda for HIS own reasons, sure we do stand to gain alot by going into iraq and setting up shop, but was it the right thing to do, throw around our power, show everybody just how BADASS we really are, then at the same time start throwing around bible scripture and quoting verse's and claim you are on a mission from god, go ahead, get them on your side, while at the same time 80 percent of Muslims are already thinking/feeling you are leading a holy war against them already...go ahead, show them they dont want to fuck with us, thats right give them and excuse to bring the pain to us, so when they do, all your buddies in the conglomerate industry can introduce the new "idea's" they have to keep us a little safer, and to make our life better, so you can follow us, and know where we are, where we've been, what kind of gum we like....yea go ahead....vote for bush

Bluegill--You're watching too many Michael Moore movies. Nothing you said has any basis in fact. But don't let the facts get in the way of your ideology.

because its so god damn obvious....i mean think about it, i have been saying that for a long time....long before i saw F911....that just fueled the fire....george bush is a dumb ass, and everbody around him tells him what to do, and he is so blinded by what his advisors tell him, and believes it to be the truth, while everybody around him is manipulating him, hell you can see it in him on several debate questions, he'd get a blank stare and have to remember what they told him to say.....i mean the dude's a tool, but so is kerry, i just feel that kerry is more sincere, i just don't see what he wants to actually happen.....and bush is so stubborn/stupid that he can't realize that he really fucked up, and his "excuse" turned out to be a no go....not Bush's fault, i believe that people on the inside--Neo-con GOP leaders--who advise him have been wanting to do it for years and were trying to get clinton to do it, but he didn't, now they got somebody who is impressionable in office, and they can work they're will through him, and i don't think it's all GOP, i think it's a something bigger, not no illuminate shit, just some real dirty business deal that we have to pay for ultimately...i mean what do we do...we work so someone else can get richer, and we spend so the same people can get richer, sure we can get in on it, but in the end what do we get....we get to make some rich motherfucker richer our whole god damn life...fuck that

Bush's support was bad enough in the polls BEFORE his movie. I think we can safely say that his movie is not what caused any of us to dislike Bush.

I don't hate conservatives. My family is conservative.

What I do hate is the people that come to these forums becuase it is obviously liberal, then start telling us crap like "michale moore was wrong, you guys are wrong, and Bush is god" without offering any decent discussion, debate, or information.

And none of us really care about michael moore much. If he had never made that movie our hipforums would look just about the same. Only difference would be that we would have less dumbasses like you around.

"Michale Moore" is not the reason why we think the way we do. So please stop broacasting your stupidity all over the forum.

What you, and the neocons you worship fail to see is that this kind of war cannot work. I want desperately for us to be successful now, even though we should never have gone the way we did in the first place. If you would take the time to read anything other than current right-wing propaganda, you would find that George H. W. Bush wrote in his book that an invasion/occupation of Iraq would likely lead to precisely what we have in Iraq today. Pat Buchanan (no left-winger I assure you) has been against this war since before it began. It was a flawed plan for the peace, horribly executed, based on a philosophy that ignores that you cannot win a war on terrorism by creating the atmosphere to produce more terrorists.

Do you see any similarity to the way we are fighting this war to the way the Israelis are fighting the Palestinians? It does not work. This president has chosen to ignore any person or opinion who differs from the party line. Richard Clarke (terrorism expert for Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush Jr.) was "out of the loop" after 9/11 because he wanted to focus on Al Qaeda while Bush/Cheney wanted Saddam. Gen. Shinseki's retirement was leaked early to undercut his authority. The White House leaked the name of V. Plame (wife of a staff member who undercut the WH's claim that Saddam tried to buy yellow cake from a country in Africa). Treasury Secretary O' Neill was pushed out when he differed from the president. I could go on.

In light of this and more, the support for this president is baffling.

Didn't you think that movie was also about the power of our dreams? That was the main message that I received from it.

Thanks for the recomendation Pressed Rat - I rented the movie and loved it. The stuff that made me thing, combined with the fact that it was a work of art in motion made it awesome. Kudos to you (and Linklater). What are his other movies like?

Get fired up about the things that matter? Creativity and the dynamic human spirit?

Get specific. Exactly what kind of world do you want to live in?

    What would be your Nirvana?

What will be Nirvana for the human race?

Sera Michele--I haven't offered any serious discussions? Right. I guess you haven't read all my postings. Oh, and BTW, I never said this: "michael moore was wrong, you guys are wrong, and Bush is god." Never did any of those words come out of my...well, never did any of those words ever get typed by me. But I will say that Michael Moore IS wrong, and you hippies ARE wrong, too. You are STILL on the WRONG side of history.

I was just giving a general description of the main arguments us "hippies" mainly hear against our political stance.

What is so fufilling about coming here and antagonizing people with opposing viewpoints to yours? There are the conservatives here that actually like to debate issues, and create some wonderful topics of discussion. Then there the conservatives that just come here to call us stupid, wrong, etc...without much more to add to the conversation. I was pointing you out as one of those.

You don't have to be so hateful to people with opposing viewpoints. If we all thought the same how bland would the world be?

(and BTW, I am well aware that there are people all over the political spectrum that act like this, it isn't just a conservative trait alone.)

Sera Michele--I haven't come onto this forum and called folks names. I have asked for opinions and I have been the one who has been called names. I will say that hippies have been, and always will be, on the wrong side of history. If you were around during the Reagan presidency, you would have called him a warmonger, too.

Well, history proved you wrong. History will prove you wrong on George W. Bush, too.

By the way, read this article, and please give me your opinion:

    My opinion of the article?

It was heavily laced with spins and propaganda.

For example, it took this Kerry quote (which I agree with, BTW):

"We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance," Kerry said. "As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life."'

    And turned it into this:

"In other words, if we just ignore them, they'll go away."

That is flat-out a textbook example of propaganda. Especially since Kerry specifically said "it's something that you continue to fight."

Look, I am not a Kerry supporter. I am not voting for Kerry. I do find Kerry's foreign policy to be better than Bush's, which is pretty much "fuck you" until he needs help. I am also sick and tired of the fear-mongering propaganda I have had to listen to the past 3 years.

There have been many leaders in history that installed fear into their people in order to enforce their agenda. How are Bush's actions any different? Remember plastic bags and duct tape? Our nifty colored alert system?

When involving yourself in politics it is important to understand all forms of propaganda and use it as a filter when coming to the conclusions you yourself are going to come to.

I am also concerned about the "real" agenda is for this administration. I can't claim to know exactly what it is, but it has become obvious to me that this war is not all about the terrorists, or a threat to the US, or WMD. I think bush has made plenty of bad decisions to not deserve my support for presidency. Plus, I don't trust the man.

Call me stupid, wrong, but you will never get me to change my position on George Bush. And I came to that conclusion by myself, with no help from Michael Moore.
