Though I could not find any forum more suitable for this argument. So I was once told by a teacher of mine that spending money on cannabis is useless and that one mine as well set their money in flames, though in my opinion it is much more biochemically productive ( funny, the words "Productive" and "weed" in the same sentence) then purchasing furniture and such. I am not saying one should go fucking minimalist and literally bury themselves in god like spires of weed (though that would be nice) but I'm simply making a statement. One derives happiness from marijuana becasue of the cannabinoids that are released in the brain, which is genuine, chemical happiness, that is pretty high in the chain of shit that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. The highest of which I assume of finding a highly compatible companion. Spending money, though, on the "newest, best couch" or "the most beautiful wooden desk for eating shit on" will only derive short term happiness from their purchase... Take that, productive, drug free folk. EDIT: I'm sorry but I'm actually high right now...and I just realized that this thread is shit....I'm really sorry.
well i think gratification is the point, or transcendence, in the context of THIS sub forum, but either way, your not going to get there by trying to impress anybody, even yourself. i'm a long way from convinced you're going to get there by emparing your judgement either. and anything you can do chemically, you can almost certainly do with some kind of mental discipline or an other. i think people turn to that as an escape, when they've bought into or been conned into, trivializing the potential of their own natural imaginations. there's a universe out there that's increadibly diverse. it is only the dominance of a culture of aggressiveness that gives so many people the feeling of beeing cut off from that diversity, or forgetting that its there. =^^= .../\...
Actually, I couldn't tell until I read this. I agree with you that spending money on pot is nothing like burning it. Yes, you're spending money on pleasure, just like rich and powerful white collar business men spend thousands of dollars to spend two weeks in Cancun or Porta Vallarta.
People spend good money to go out to a movie or eat dinner somewhere. The end product of which is pleasure from doing so, with little to nothing to show for it afterwards. The only "sin" is the attachment to it. If you have to borrow or steal to repeat the sensation, you've crossed a line. x
Perhaps actually money would be better spent on weed than a big vacation, because the carbon footprint would be much lower, and who knows, you might even come up with some new insight. You can argue that even money given to charity is actually being spent indirectly on personal 'pleasure' - the pleasure of thinking oneself to be a good person, compassionate etc etc etc. I wonder how many billions of 'black' money are tied up in weed? Perhaps that's one of the main reasons the alcoholic establishment don't like it.....
