For those use, I am just curious. Never will use illegal drugs because of job and personal preference.

I just want to hear the stories. I just want to see how these drugs have allowed to major changes in your spiritual and mental views of this world.

otherwise it will surely all sound vague and ambiguous and leave you wondering what the drug has to do with it at all

Psychedelics don't actually change your mind or allow it change. They sort of accelerate your mind's attempts to change itself. You can do the same thing in slow motion without drugs, or just as fast if you have excellent mental balance. You can check out trip reports like the ones on erowid.org, or read all kinds of other info on the net, but you'll never really know until you try it yourself.

Terence McKenna said that until you take psychedelics you'll have this idea that everything you hear about them is symbolic or metephorical or exaggerated. But the truth is, when you take them, you find out that it's all really going to happen, and it's really going to happen to you.

I don't understand why people sometimes try to downplay the connection between psychedelics and spirituality... If you look at all the major religions you'll find heavy use in their formative years, and if you look into shamanism, of course, you'll see what a huge role psychedelics play even today. And when you actually take them, it becomes abundantly clear that these are not drugs in the sense that medications, alcohol, or even stimulants and opiates are drugs. They're something completely different. It's like saying a book is nothing more than firewood.

I believe psychedelics can be used for further enlightenment of the mind and spirit. I agree with prismatism about how psychedelics play a huge role in the shaman world. If anyone ever gets the chance, they should read the book called Supernatural.
For me, shrooms have allowed me to appreciate the world much more than I ever would have if I had never ate shrooms in the first place. They can allow you to think beyond what you could ever imagine. As for changing your mind forever, no..but they will definately accelerate your mind's ideas and beliefs and allow you to expand your mind and increase your spirituality.

Psychedelics, when used with the right intentions and followed up with introspection, can be used to initially align oneself to a spiritual path.

Ultimately though, these substances have nothing to do with enlightenment, and are not an end unto themselves.

I found quite the opposite with geting stoned all the time, after my first big mushroom trips i found it gave me insight in to my pot addiction and the fact that i no longer wanted to live my life being stoned all the time. It also gave me insight into what sort of a person i was turning into when smoking every day i was extremely introverted and selfish it took me a while to dig my self out of the hole i was in due to weed but these days id never dream of smoking every day ever again. I feel my experiences with psychedelics have helped me change my self into a better person while i dont think its the direct effect of the drug its more that psychedelics help you see things in a different persepctive and think about things in ways you dont usually get a chance to do in normal every day to day life. As for spirituality it has made me question reality more and wonder if there is some sort of higher power, i still feel main stream religion has nothing to offer me and is more a tool of control over the masses how ever i feel there is more to life than this exsitance and that is something i never really belived before i used psychedelics

I find that mushrooms didn't change me permanently. That's up to you. But most of the time you should realize it's just a trip. I've never done acid though so the story there could be completely different.

I also find that marijuana makes me want to do drugs more often and do different drugs, but mushrooms makes me want to stop doing drugs as often. Not because of a bad mush trip, it just makes me want to stop, I don't know why.

On one trip though I saw a kid trying to take an E hit and he was gagging (I had never done E at the time). It looked like he was gonna choke and die. After that I decided to never do E because it looked like the kid was going through a lot of pain. But then I found out the next day that the kid was too drunk to take the hit OUT OF THE PLASTIC BAG. He was trying to swallow the entire plastic bag and that's why he was gagging so that changed my mind again to be more positive about them.

Haha, first off, that story about the dummy trying to swallow the plastic bag to take a hit of E is priceless!

But back to topic.... Yeah I can say that I definitely have a different mind than before I took LSD. But I don't really think that Shrooms had as big of an impact as LSD in that department.

Both great responses. IMO and I've said this before, I think there is something just more spiritual/soul related with mushrooms. Everytime I've tripped (mush) I've always been led into that tiny introspective room in my head and I can't just leave. This isn't the same for everyone, I guess I just have issues ha, who doesn't? No bullshit though, I've actually cried on mushies. L's however's a different story - kids who haven't tried lucy (but have mushies) always ask me "hey what's the difference man?" and the best response I can come up with is that they're two totally different drugs/experiences. Personally for me it's all about the music maaaan. Ha I was having conversation with some dude yesterday and he goes, "on acid there's something so godly about the notes played an electric guitar"...so true. I've never been able to hear music the same since my first trip (Hendrix live at woodstock DVD... incredible ) I think the whole "WILL BE CHANGED FOREVERRR" is a bit exaggerated. A common misconception is that tripping once will drastically change your entire outlook on life, behavior ect. overnight. Not true. Perfect example? The business stiff who has always been curious about the other side but chooses not to try because he is afraid he will trip, have some crazy mental brakedown, lose all interest in his work, family career, responsibility blah blah blah... it's not true, just drug propaganda from your local man. So to answer your original question LSD is amazing and it can change your viewpoint on things usually for the better. I became such a more open-minded, appreciative, seasoned person from lucy and I think given the right setting it's great for both fun/experience and that soul searchin' baby.

Did my mind change forever....without a doubt. There was 4 of us and we decided to take an eighth of shrooms each. Our plan was to take them at midnight and watch the sun rise in the morning. My brain was overtaken during those 6 hours and as the Golden sun rose above the dancing purple trees, the tears began to fall. It was if I saw the light of God blanket my body in an unending love of all that is given to us for granted. After, i sat in the lawn chair in my friends backyard, feeling the breeze on my face, I was free. Because of the mushroom trip, I am free of desires, material possessions. I am in a state where money has no value, and I smile everyday knowing that I could live happily ever after knowing these beautiful ideas. The mushrooms were a catalyst to the change that happened to me. The trip will always be one of my most profound memories. Remember that there are more beautiful things in life then paper currency, and we are all brothers and sisters conjoined by the fundamental building block of energy and love.

only my 2nd or 3rd trip had a big effect on my life, acutely it induced a drug induced pyschosis according to my doctor, this lasted for nearly a month. longer term effects were flashbacks for about 5 years, it put me off drugs for the next 10 years... not life of course lol but i'd never touch lsd again. pisses me off because i appreciate it can have positive enriching effects.
