Has anyone had the problem where the dmt crystals actually dried into the filter paper. What would be the best route in recovering the product.. Hot Naptha through the filter to recover or am i out of luck..
I've never heard of a significant amount going into the paper, but the people I know use coffee filters that are pretty smooth. (That is, not a lot of crevices to stick to.) Usually the crystals come off easy and 99% comes off. (maybe scrapped off with a razor blade to get everything.) I'm pretty sure using a little warm naptha will dissolve the crystals on the paper. Then you'd have to re-precipitate or evaporate the naptha again. If you freeze-precip, maybe use a different kind of filter paper this time. The crystals usually dry pretty fluffy....so, I'd be a little suspicious that something went wrong with the extraction if they dried and weren't fluffy. So, you may find that is the case...which would suck.
yea, the container was full of them before the the filtration. then only 70mgs were recovered from the filter. I did re-soak with solvent and doing an evaporation to see what comes about. Thanks for the reply.
^ you got it... hot naptha over the paper into a dish and wait. i prefer evap over precip for crystal shape and density
All went well i recovered another 350mgs from the filter paper. I let is dry out in the dish instead if on the paper this time!!!!
