Dread products/companies

Hiya, I have wanted to start locks for a long time, and now im in the position to start I have a few final queries.

I should start by saying that i'm white, with blonde hair that knotts really easily when I walk outside.

A. until today I had only really read up on a few sites, and as far as I was aware dread wax, locking peppa, and elastic bands were completely vital for having nice well formed locks, however I have read a few articles today where people are saying that these products are actually extremely bad for dreads, I would like to hear some opinions?

B. It was also said that clockwork rubbing, and palm rolling arent nescesary for nice dreads? if you don't use these methods how is new hair supposed to lock up?

c. does anyone swear by knotty boy or dreadhead hq etc?
