What do you think is more dangerous, living in the States and having an opposing voice or living in another country, not safe from an invasion by the U.S? Just a question I thought of earlier today while researching Patriot Act arrests.
so is china in fear of invasion? england? not to mention many people speak against the government. i believe rushdie wrote a book which went against his countrys way and hes been in hiding, escaping execution for what, around 20years.. but of course americas sooo bad..
You obviously haven't research arrests that deal with "terrorism" due to the Patriot Act. Protestors and activists are bound and gagged, hogtied. Most of them are thrown into squad cars and are locked up for months before being allowed to talk to an attorney or anyone for that matter. They get charged with some bullshit trespassing law which is defeated, but then the Justice Department comes back and charges them with some other law. Police shoot into protestors with rubber bullets and smoke bombs, protestors that are doing nothing but sitting in a street, or on a sidewalk. Yes, America is a very unsafe place to live in if the opinion you voice differs from the government's. I still think its worse to get invaded and bombed tho.
and i still think many other people live in far greater oppression from their governments or ruling bodies
You are perfectly safe speaking out against the US government... So long as what you say is completely irrelevant and doesn't actually seriously threaten the ruling elite. You can ask folks like MLK Jr., Leonard Peltier, Mumia, Assata Shakur, Sherman Austin, or Abbie Hoffman what happens to folks who utilize their right to free speech to actually make serious social change and/or to challenge the "right" of the ruling elite to continue to oppress us until they've sucked the last drop of blood from the last whale in the ocean.
