I am currnetly living in NE Ohio, but want out of here! I need to move at least a few hours away, preferrably south, even out of state is fine! I need to find an area that has work, decent rent, and good schools. Any suggestions or PM's are appreciated!

    Forget Columbus.

This oversized Hick town has gone to the pits.
It use to have a lot of things to do here but everything is now catered to the rednecks from West Virginia or the pathetic immature obsessed OSU football fans.

That’s all you here about here is OSU this and OSU that. I don't know about you, but I don't give a crap about OSU. I use to live in different states, overseas and in other parts of Ohio. The people in Columbus have no idea that life exists outside of Columbus. If you talk to people who have come here from other parts of Ohio and the world, they hate it. It reminds me of the person we all knew who was so in love with himself that all he would talk about was how great he was and people hated him. Well, that's all you'll get in Columbus, people who are so obsessed with OSU and how great Columbus is. The thing is, very few of the people in Columbus have ever lived anyplace other than Columbus and if they had, it was West Virginia. I guess they think it is so great here because Columbus has indoor plumbing.

There is actually nothing to really do in this town except go to the redneck joints or go act like a nut over a local football team.

I mostly hang out in Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo and have a great time there on the weekends.

I suggest northern Cincinnati. Dayton and Cincinnati has grown together, so now it's one big metropolitan area.

Anyone who is not from Columbus or West Virginia is treated like Martians (from some other planet). People in Columbus just for some reason can't understand that there is life that exists other places than Columbus. If you move to Columbus, you'll either have to forget that life exist outside of Columbus and conform to the Columbus way of life or you'll be treated like a social deviant and an outcast.

Columbus, Ohio is basically an oversized hick town. That's an opinion that I've heard from several people I've met who have temporally lived in Columbus and left. I fully agree with them.

I’ve been here for 20 years. I made the mistake of buying a house here. I’ve been wanting to leave for the past 10 years. Now that my parents have both past away, I have no reason to stay except I can’t sell my house. I’m half tempted to just give it back to the bank and get the heck out of this stupid place.

The Wheeling WV area is good. Not too large, but people are friendly. Cost of living is low, too. I'm in Ohio across the river. Come on down and check us out.

I would probably recommend Yellow Springs, near Dayton. I spent a year there and have several friends there that absolutely enjoy it. Dayton also has a couple good universities and several good city schools in the surrounding areas. If you were looking for something less involved and more of a relaxed area to be free, you could try Portsmouth by the river or Chillicothe in South Central Ohio. I've lived in all three areas and they all have positives and negatives, just depends on what your looking for.
