I'm planing my first trip solo to Dam this month . I already know how much exactly the air ticket+hostel will cost, but i can't figure out the rest of the costs! my main purpose is to get stoned all day for 6 days, just to feel a little free before i start college. i don't care about museums, RLD windows, clubs ETC... all i wanna do is visit coffeeshops, sit and smoke, buy enough to smoke at the hostel, sleep and repeat . maybe try a mushroom or two. i will visit the supermarkets to buy cheap food and make it myself to save some expense (i don't eat a lot anyway, and if it comes to a meal or weed at the end, i will choose the weed). so how much on average i will have to spend on weed & food from supermarket on those 6 days? i know it's individual, i basically read about guys who spent 5000$ on a week, while others spent 1000$ for 2 weeks, but what i really want to know is what's the minimal amount of cash someone need for 4-6 days to get stoned and have a meal or two a day? on a more personal note, if someone will visit dam around 12-20th this month, and want to hang out there, send me a PM . here's my profile on couch surfing: http://www.couchsurfing.com/people/mammod if someone lives there and has a spare couch i can crash on for the few days I'm there, please let me know. i promise i will buy us both lots and lots of weed for that duration :sifone:
weed usually runs between 7-15Euro/gr. How many grams per day will you smoke? For me, I stay high all day there with a gram or two a day, but it sounds (from your post) that you will smoke about 4-5 grams/day. So that's like (avg.) 50euro If you ONLY eat food from the Albert Hein (best supermarket there), you can survive on Ramen noodles and peanut butter for very cheap--10-15 euros for the whole time? But, I'm sure you're gonna wanna sample some of the local foods--there are so many good things to eat there. So, at least spend 100 euros for the week for food--of course you can eat for 50 euros too (10 or so euros a day) have fun! there's a lot of fun things to do there. To me (and I thought the same as you my 1st time) sitting in coffee shops is fun!! But after 2 or 3 days, you may want to get out and see some of the great things this AMAZING city has to offer--there are lots of places to go for free, and walking around is amazing too. cheers!
I always find it hard to think in terms of gram . can you say approximately how many joints i can make with one gram? btw, the air tickets prices suddenly went doubled . so I'm basically forced to buy last minute tickets on a random day, since their prices are twice cheaper. at this season, you think it's wise to come to dam without hostel booking? since the ticket's day will be random, i won't be able to book in advance.
1- you can roll several J's from one gram, I'd say between 3 and 5 Js depending on if you roll w/ tobacco or plain, and how thick or thin you roll. 2- never stayed in a hostel so I don't know how much advance notice you need. I can say this time of year is somewhat less crowded than the summer time, so you should be able to find somewhere to stay. do yourself a favor and use the internet before you go to contact some of the places you want to stay at, they are usually very friendly and helpful in giving all the info you may need! cheers...g/l and let us know how it went!!
Kinda like asking, how many licks to the center of a lollipop. i usually bought 2 grams at a time, i could roll 1 big one with about half gram left over, the left overs will accumulate after a few days, or in my case, daily. Try to set a weed budget, and even harder try to stick to it .:cheers2: As far as hostels, give them a call "flying pig downtown" "flying pig uptown" i doubt you have trouble finding a bed. Get a GVB 96 hour ticket, you'll need one. Probably the best budget advice i can give is, get your Euros at home, don't pay the exchange fee and or bad exchange rate. Most banks do it for no charge, if your bank doesn't somebody you know has a bank that will. If you have an ATM card be sure to tell your bank you're going to be using it in EU. Still a small fee, but no where near what GWK charges. 50-60 Euro a day, as it is figured on paper, but in my exp. i would think closer to 100 Euro a day. Give this a read, seems they save beds for walk ins and extended stays.LINK
Please post the name of the smoker-friendly hostel. Or it is the Flying pig downtown (smoking only on outdoor patio) Flying Pig uptown (smoking in Kitchen only)? Arriving in the dam without a hostel or hotel booking is risky at best. You could get lucky and find a spot at the Flying Pig hostels if you arrive at checkin time, or at Bob's youth hostel. Or you could have the worst shit luck and end up a hostel run by a religious group(heavy on rules). I also met 2 guys who had to sleep in Vondlepark for two days since they arrived without a booking and didn't have enough money for an expensive hotel (they only had a budget for hostels which were all booked during the week of Cannabis cup)
