i went to public schools. most of the people i attend school with now went to private schools though and they definitely got a much better education. its hard to compete with private school kids when applying to colleges, even if you have all the extra-curricular activities in the world. i definitely plan on sending my kids to private school if and when i have any

I went to a public school. I think its different here. Private schools here are just for rich kids who couldn't get into a public school.

    In England:-
a "public school" isnt open to the public.Because its actually the most expensive type of private school.
A "private school" is also called a "minor public school".Its less expensive.
A "state school" , is free , and what Americans call "public school".
    Simple really... ( not!):)

Anyway schools bullshit+cronyism is why I have absolutely zero loyalty to Britain.

I realize there linguistic differences between the US and the UK but to me that seems like a really good example of what George Orwell refered to as 'doublethink'.

"Doublethink is the act of simultaneously accepting as correct two mutually contradictory beliefs. It is related to, but distinct from, hypocrisy and neutrality.
Doublethink is an integral concept of George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four."
