so i geuss my hair must have been not any longer than my shoulders when i had them put in. they looked so good and no one could tell they weren't real unless they had seen the length of my hair prior to the extensions... they were my natural hair color and decorated with beads and whatnot, it was like my dream to have long dreads but it just wasn't happening with my short thin hair. i was hanging out with an old friend of mine who was alot older than me and had nice dreads of his own. when asking something about mine i told him that they were extensions. i was way too blazed to remember what he said at the time but later that day he apparently told a friend of mine that they were "the most custy-ass thing he had ever seen" ...? i've been pondering getting them put back in because i hate my short hair and my natural dreadies from long ago bring back good memories... i just wanted to know what you guys think of this? is it really a turnoff? i know i shouldnt care what others think but this hurt my feelings really
if you like them and you think they look good and they make you happy, then go for it. some of the pics of extensions ive seen look really really nice, so go for it =]
Personally they move onto the whole fashion dread thing but seriously dont listen to me *crazy* do whatever makes you feel happy. Alex
ive seen em look rediculouse but if they make u happy its your choice..but..time will kake yoir dreads grow long why rush it
I've never seen dread extensions.....I'm assuming their just fake dreads? Personally I would never get em (defeats the whole purpose in my mind), but that's my opinion. It's all about you....do what YOU feel is right for your life.
you have to remember they dont look like real dreads unless they are made from real hair. synthetic hair is made of nylon and does not lay or act anything like real hair dreadlocks. you can think they "pass" but they dont. i had synthetic dread extensions when my dreadlets were only 3 inches long. i like them, but in no way did they look real or act the same as real hair. the second i got enough length on my real dreads, those plastic ones came out. it is up to you to decide. if you are using them as a temporary fix, or just as a fashion statement. no one can say if they will look good or not because its up to your hair stylist to make them look good. but people with real dreads will definitely know they are not real. one of the reasons real dread people will give you grief about this is that they believe (rightly so) that there is a certain mentality that comes with nurturing your locks until they mature. it teaches you a lot of things- patience, the ability to be less vain, etc. i learned a great deal from nuturing my own hair, but the synthetic locks were definitely different than my own hair and i was personally glad to get rid of them. now i only have about 6 inches of human hair dread extention on about a third of my hair. its getting so long i need to cut it. soon it will all be my own, which is what i have been working for for 2 years. i am so excited! anyways, do what you want, but remember you need to have pride in yourself no matter what your hair looks like!
just dread your own hair. then you don't have to worry about whether dread extensions are gross or not.
World peace, the guy with the blond dreads has the exact same do as my boyfriend hehe. I have the full head of dreads with extensions. I'm looking forward to having my extensions out but i'm not ashamed. No one should be made to feel ashamed. It's your body, your head, your dreads. People use beads to spruce them up a little, why not a little extra length. For me, after having very long hair all my life i felt naked almost without it and through crotchetting was cheated out of my full length by two thirds! Now i'm looking forward to my dreads being all natural. Also i havne't come across anyone who knew my dreads weren't real unless they touched them or closely inspected them. Everyone gets dreads for different reasons and no reason is any more valid that the other.
The dread extensions I have seen either look really bad or really good. Some I didn't know were extensions at all and the others were clearly fake little bun things added. It depends on your reasons to get dreads, if its the ease of them then I would say extensions are not your friend. If you just want to see what dreads would potentially look like on you then go right ahead. If you are doing it because you like how they look then go right ahead. If you have thin hair and what not and they are to fill in then go right ahead. Its really all about ones own discretion on getting them. Do whatever makes you happy.
lets see it stop combing and let it grow..bt yje time it grows 4-6 inches you'll have dreads once u have dreads theres no stopping the growth of iu look at my pics they were started at only 2 inches naturaly
