Since I travel a lot, I figured I'd keep track of how many states I've BF'd in public. The count so far? 9: Oregon Michigan Ohio New York Maryland Virginia Florida California Minnesota I'll add a couple more yet this month. I think I did Washington DC, too...but I'm not sure. BF'in in the car doesn't count, IMHO. Gotta be in public. What's your score?
California Arizona New Mexico Texas Oklahoma Louisiana *been in stores and other public places in all of these states. Oddly enough, California is the only state of my list that has had any store or other place ask me to leave. I have not had any place in Texas hassle me ever in what must be over 1000 visits to various public places and stores by now. The other states are just one's I have been in and visited a few places like convenience stores and fast food restaurants while traveling.
Hmmm...I try to avoid the US whenever possible, but friends and relatives keep me coming back: Hawaii - by far the most barefoot-friendly state California Nevada Utah Washington Oregon Idaho Colorado New Mexico Montana Missouri Maryland Washington DC New York And just for the heck of it, places other than the US: Palau Yap Guam CNMI: Rota, Tinian, , Agingan, Saipan, Anatahan Indonesia: Java, Bali, Lombok Thailand: all provinces other than Issan and the far south Japan: Tokyo, Narita, Kyoto Korea: Seoul, Inchon Taiwan: Taipei and environs Hong Kong and Kowloon Vietnam: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Cambodia: Siam Reap and Angkor Wat France: Paris Italy: Rome, Milan, Florence Germany: Berlin Austria: Vienna Netherlands: Amsterdam and Utrecht Czech Republic: Prague Britain: London and Salisbury Canada: BC Of all the places I've traveled, home in Micronesia is the very best for barefoot adventures. No one even cares, and in places like Yap, barefoot is the norm, rather than the exception.

Here in the UK I started to keep a mental note of how many towns I had walked around barefoot. I got to about twenty, then lost count!
North Carolina South Carolina Alabama Mississippi Georgia Virginia West Virginia Ohio Indiana Michigan Kentucky Tennessee Illinois Wisconsin Minnesota (Mall of America) Oklahoma Texas Arizona Utah Montana Washington Oregon California Canada Manitoba Saskatchewan
4 provinces (BC, Alberta, Sask, and Ontario) before hip forums I didn't even know that bare footing was a way of life but I did it all the time....people would always ask me why and "because I like it" was never a good enough answer so I started telling them I was training for a hot coal walking competition, haha...seriously though
Nice MaryJBlaze! I've come up with a "reason" of my own that's not so esoteric. I've had some minor plantar fasciitis in my right foot since last week - the gym doesn't like me. Anyway, I've been telling people that walking barefoot on the cool floor feels better on that foot It's true, too! Walking barefoot does feel better for it, and wearing a shoe or a sandal on that foot sometimes hurts more!
Good question I would say Massachussetts Connecticut Rhode Island Vermont New York New Jersey Pennsylvania Virginia Maryland DC Delaware North Carolina South Carolina Florida Illionois Minnesota Wisconsin Colorado Nevada California Utah I think that's it... plus a bunch of other countries....
Youse guys are not afraid to go anywhere! Cool! Added Hawaii this week; kind of a non event. With places like Duke's Canoe Club and Barefoot Grill, doin the BF boogie is pretty easy. The sidewalks were interesting; they're made with volcanic rock aggregate. After they wear a bit, they are particularly rough. Think deep tissue massage for yer feet. I liked it. Caught my first glass shard of the year returning a rented bike - outer instep. Pulled it out and kept on truckin'. Later the same day, I fell off my surfboard and took a nice laceration to the left instep. So - surfboarding is by far more dangerous to one's feet than BF'ing. As I did an airport transfer, the flight attendant stopped me. 'Young man', she says - no mean feat as I'm closer to 50 than 45, 'you're not wearing any shoes!' She was working up to the needing footwear to get on the plane gig. I gave her the story about the coral laceration, adding that the location of the cut made wearing shoes painful. While she puzzled over the proper response, I walked onto the plane - and that was that.
