Have been at this for awhile and I can't seem to kick it UP a notch! Here's the scenario (with my SeriousSeeds Chronic and their clones) Have not had the results I'd hoped for despite the following set-up: Twin 1000s in flower room, 600hps/400mh in veg, both rooms on light-movers, CO2 injection, fans everywhere, 40 to 60% humidity, mylar everywhere. Nutes are BigBloom & TigerBloom...usage according to containers. I get great growth...bushy and tall (if I keep them in veg)...and plenty of bud sets. However...BIG however...despite what looks like great results, the 'high' just isn't rocketing. Now for the oddity....and this is where I'd like some professional help. I took one mother plant outside...warm 80+ days, cool 50ish nights...and let it go to flower. Results were buds that SMELL a lot better and looked pretty darn good, and seem to be more potent. So...??...what the heck? What should I be doing differently in the grow rooms that would attain same result? Am I harvesting too early? 8+ weeks on most of them so I don't think so. Too much heat at night? It only gets down to 70 due to proximity of veg. room. Not enough of something? Please feel free to jump in. Hearing from friends that, "it's okay, just not great" is really getting old!...especially for the $$ in electricity & gas! Big thanks in advance! :cheers2:
Dam thought you might of needed help smoking the stuff due to a bumper crop Hehe. Think you may of hit the nail on the head mj love cool nites when in bloom the theory is they produce more resin to protect there selfs from the cold. Its about half way through the nature bloom time here in the uk and you can always tell an extra chillie nite coz the smell of the bloom increases.
we always do half grandaddy purple inour room and get at least a lb per 1000wt hps. last winter it was colder than usual. we only pulled about half of what we were supposed to and even at that the grass leftsomthin to be desired. are yer fans on to high? a slight movement of the leaves is good but anyting more could be stressin yer girls. do you regularly flush yer nutrients? are ya having pest problems?it could be any number of things.
I'll answer both comments above here: It never gets too cold in the dark cycle since the rooms are divided and there's residual heat from the veg room. The recording thermostat shows it usually only gets to around 68 - 70. The flower room has two fans; one is above and just keeps the air moving in the room, the other oscillates all night over the plants...on low...so maybe I could turn that one off at night. I do get good "production", just not the glistening, resin-coated aspect I'm looking for, so the smell isn't too powerful, the buds don't make tight, packed buds, and the high is 5 on a ten scale. I dont' flush the nutrients since the leaves don't show any bad signs. The soil is top-notch and gets replaced and re-used. Basically everything grows well...just doesn't produce the high or smell that I expect. I'm looking at new seeds now too, as a few posters have mentioned that "Chronic" has been so over-grown that the quality of the seeds may be lacking these days. Any suggestions? White Widow, hashberry, ?? Thanks for the help.
are you using organic nutes? if not i suggestflushing eery 2-3weeks. non organic food will leave behind mineral salts that build up in the bottom of yer pots and burn the roots. if yer girls arent producing enough resin for yer taste try using a carbohydrate additive. carboload is what we use and it makesa world of difference. mollasses will give simmilar effect but is just a less refined version of carboload. yer plant eats the glucose part and turns it into carbohydrate wich basically gives the girls a sugar buzz. the reason a cannabis plant produces crystals is to catch pollen in the air so it can reproduce. giving them carboload bassically makes em really horny they produce hella trichromes. your re-using yer soil? thats probrally yer main problem. unless yer re-amending the soil after harvestwich is quite a task. go buy a PH tester and see where yer water is at and see where yer soil is at. cannabis preffers to be right around 7. well figure this out bro. are you in a medical state?
yea by the way most seed companies suck out load. DNA does a good job and so does soma. theres a reason some seeds are 50 bucks and some are 200. im a medical patient in ca and hae acsess to a library of seeds and elite clones.
Let's see: My soil is real good; top-of-the-line bagged stuff and I rotate it after harvesting anyway. My water is from river...possibly a bit more minerals but it goes thru water softener also. And at the end of my grows the soil at the bottom of the cut-down 5 gallon containers looks great...no salts, residual material, etc....just clean soil with good root action. Checked PH back in the beginning of growing and it registered correctly, so unless something's happening but NOT showing up in leaves, I think it's still fine. I use FoxFarm; Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom, following the amounts on the bottles. Never heard of 'carboload' so I'll look that up. Sounds impressive in it's help. Here's the thing: A year ago I produced a real kick-ass result from a few seeds that I got from a neighbor...now gone unfortunately...and didn't know it was going to be so good till AFTER many weeks in flower. I hadn't cloned her, and had negative result from trying to bring her back to veg, so I never saw those results again. This is why I believe I just need to find new seeds, as I don't think it's my methods...I hope...since the only thing I do a bit different is only using Foxfarm, whereas in the beginning I had a few choices I'd bought at nearby hydroponic store (now gone also). I did find interesting that the cold helps the plant put on resin...and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this result? The only thing I could do would be to 'thread' a 4" flexible hose from outside air into the flower room during dark periods to bring the temp down even further. Oh, and yes, in medical mj state....but doubtful I'd ever see seeds from anyone associated with that. If you have a seed type and supplier you'd like to mention please do!...as I'm really tired of waiting thru the germination, veg, (sexing), and flower to see what I've got. Takes too darn long! Thanks for all the help. All advice is greatly appreciated.
man u sound like uve got it dialed id defiantly try sum different seeds another thing u probably kno is catch your harvest wen half the trics r amber an half r cloudy plus u say ur using co2 r u using a regulator i dont kno much about co2 but maybe if ur not using a regulator ur using 2 much if u can do such a thing im not sure just ideas
Yes, regulated to 1500 ppm.... Wish I had a line on some fantastic seeds...as the choices out there are mind-boggling.
