can anyone give me a real answer as to why if you get hiccups one time in a day, it's very likely you'll get them again (and possibly again and again and again.....) ??
I don't know. I don't think anyone does, really. Every time I see a "scientific study" about it somewhere, I see another one that says it's wrong and "this is what it really is." It's like yawning.... they almost know.... but it's elusive.
and yawning, im pretty sure, is because you are tired you're breathing gets lighter and you're not taking in as much air/oxygen, so your body yawns to get you on track again
no no people (all except haha), its not about why.. i understand that... i mean, why do you either get hiccups 2 plus times a day or not at all....
i usually get them at some point everyday. it's annoying. also, i have a friend who does too and when we were in school she would always get them during our fourth hour class...it was weird.
Maybe it's something in your system... like, you get diarrhea more on some days than others, right? It could be the same kind of idea....
alright man, I never get hiccups.. but when I do it's only a single one and it happens like once a month and it freaks people out when they're with me cause I'll be sittin and all of a sudden I'm like HIIIC! and that's that.... Now a different story is cough syrup, my word of advice to you is no matter how hungry you are don't eat on it because the last time I did I hiccupped for 45 minutes 1/30sec and I was beginning to loose my mind from it :\
i went through periods where id get em all teh time. no one knows why we get them, but an answer thats more logical than these others, is where the brain signals control breathing and swallowing get mixed up, nothing to do with trapped air or muscle twiching (though the musclke twiching would bea r esult of the hicup/ IS the hicup) why they loop and keep coming back is a bigger question though. but i dont knwo what your talking about, if i get hiccups, its often jsut once in a day.
I know what you're talking about, Trish. I get them all the time, and it's an all-day affair. I get them if I move the wrong way too sudden, or get laughing and running around too much, but usually I did something to get them. It's a muscle spasm, and to get rid of them completely, I have to go to sleep to relax the muscles. Otherwise, they just seem to stop for awhile, then come back. I think it's just a long break between hics, not really a separate bout.
I rarely get hiccups, got them this morning though... I don't think I had them before then for a few months...
I get them when I eat carrots and sometimes pretzels. Someone told me when I get them or when someone else gets them to ask them their middle name. I don't know why this works or if it really does. Try it next time and let me know
i have them again. they suck ass! i wanna smoke a cig. and i know it wont be enjoyable cause of that. so who wants to come scare me?????
