Is there anything interesting (festivals) that ever happens in texas? I've been looking, but have been unsuccessful. I'm bored all the time. If anyone has any info on something cool in my neck of the woods please let me know. :)

Do a search for South Austin Jug Band and check out one of their shows, I guarantee those boys'll rock your socks off~~ i wish i lived in TX i'd go see em all the time. For real, do it~you'll be happy you did :). mmm... nothing like good lookin' super-talented hippy boys playing good ol' time music

Every April there is a thing called the Arts and Jazz Fest in Denton, Tx. It is very cool and one of the few things I look forward to. They have live music and craft booths. People come from all over the country to sell their crafts and the bands are super amazing. Anyway, that's pretty much all I know of in Tx besides whatever they do down in Austin...

It is tough to get fun stuff under age. Check out Kerrville Folk Fest, I always had a blast.

In the metro (ft. Worth/Dallas) some rooms have 18 and up shows. the Hop...er...Ardvaark did.
Gypsy Tea Room might, call 'em. They are in Deep Ellum. I remember some young kids at Trees, too. (1999, SCI/Keller...maybe we all looked young)
Stubb's BBQ in Austin is also a venue, and allows underagers in the outdoor shows, at least.
Look for outdoor fests, and check Cotton Bowl/ Reunion (or whatever the new one is)/ Tarrant County Convention Center web sites.
Texas is big on mixing art and music, so read details on the art shows for stages.
Texas Rennaisance Fest (Plantersville, near Houston) opens in Oct., and denton area had a fest called Hawkwood off 35 W accross from the speedway.

    now go have fun..

    where are ya now BTW?

Renessiance Festival rocks, Kerrville rocks even more. ACL is today and looks to be awesome. In... march or april they have a jam/folk festival out in nachodoches called the 10 Acre Jam. Eeyores birthday is in april every year and in Austin we have a big festival to celebrate with crafts/games and a HUGE drum circle.

Not exactly a hippy fest, but the Texas Rennaisance Festival is pretty damn cool, and the camping rocks, and there's always lots of cool interesting people.
And just for kicks you can watch the webcams at trfcam it should be starting next weekend i believe.

man cheese this weekend...it was such a beautiful experience. i'd seen them twice before, but only at the 1st & 2nd acl festivals, and that crowd is so mixed and weird...but the mindset of the people at the show was amazing. so positive and respectful. did anyone else make it down to austin this weekend?

Some good bands from around these parts you might want to check out: bagg, Peach Truck Republic, Spoonfed Tribe, anything with Earl Harvin, Mike Dillon, or Paul Slavins playing, Shaolin Death Squad, Norte de Havana, The Collection Agency,.... There's more good musicians in this town than there are place to see them. We used to have an awesome party called the Fry Street Fair every spring, but that's been up in the air the last couple of years.
