Usually, I am not one to say I dislike a complete genre and I am always open and willing to try new things and listen to new music, but in general, hip hop does not appeal to me. Although there are some good things out there that I do not mind listening too.

It is just a personal taste and for me it has nothing to do with the lyrics or the image it has.

I can write rap.( anyone remember the Rowing Boat Rap - here?)
But my question is , is this actually a worthwhile skill if u are white?
Seriously , I mean should I sell my stuff?

    PS point C , is a strong point in Rap's favour !: )

I think if you're white and you really came from the street and don't try to act out like.. a typical black rapper.. sure it will be genuine and worthwhile.

I am really into this white, French hip-hop band called NTM, well it doesn't really exist anymore, but leaders Kool Shen and Joey Starr are geniuses. Actually Joey Starr is black.

that's a good question, should an Englishman rap?
I guess it depends on what you think of Mike Skinner.

I am proud to say (? - scratches head) I have traditionally been regarded as a delinquent white scumbag , if that is a plus point? : )
Whereas Kanye West and the like are squeaky clean middle class twxxts.

All I want is for the marketing side to be easy.I can write but don't want to juggle round with crap..

    PS Zen-Arcade.
Mike Skinner , I think is clever(ish) but a bit wet.Not exactly from "the ( mean) streets".I'm a different kind.

I dislike it because it is shallow, repetitive, and the only music ever blared at 2am as I'm trying to sleep.

    I agree.
though I do respect the fact that he, as Penny said, doesn't try to be something he isn't.

    I just read this:
    White Rap:

    Blondie

Description: Have to include Blondie because the rap in "Rapture" is arguably the first rap ever. The only rap that came before it is the spoken word of Gil-Scot Heron, which doesn't really qualify as rap in most people's minds.

So, rap started with a female white woman...wow, never knew that.
