the return of Scnets&subtleSou, yet another sign that the Brahphecy is upon us. i have stayed away...lurking. waiting for this day. Phish will be back. soon. its only a matter of time. http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/05/28/trey-anastasio-hints-at-phish-reunion/
nice! Trey willing to give his left nut to play YEM 5 times in a row till he dies!?!? sign me up! ::starts saving up for Phish Tix and the insane gas prices::
WOW! I always said July of '09. And even though this may be a pipedream of sorts for us phish fans, any ray of light in the murk is a welcome illumination. Good to see Trey smiling!
5 years was my guess. but, i think it will take a little longer sadly. trey has a couple years of probation, no? or did his reduced sentence change that? if so, 2009 hell yeah! but, this is just my luck. i am stepping away from the audio world to move to thailand and teach english...i literally no more than a couple of weeks ago, cam to terms with the idea that phish probably wouldn't come back and that it was probably for the better. then trey offers his left nut. then all that i hope and know phish can be came rushing back. they will return. and this time i believe it will be in a much better light. i will be the first person to stand up for the some of the epicness that ensued post-hiatus. but, as we all know now, trey was very junked up. often harming some amazing performances. i feel like this time there will be a certain intensity to the practicing and love of the music. Phish is hard music to play and requires everything you have. Phish's career started to grow like crazy around 94, the Clinton administration had given america a large middle class, with lots of college kids ready to travel. gas was 66 cents a gallon. everything fell in place for a movement like theres to happen. now in 2008, after years of horrid rule under the Bush admin, Obama will become the president and we will start to see a similar atmosphere. an economy that allows such followings to occur.
Nice post, solla - interesting and accurate thoughts that I agree with. Last year I wrote a blog on my myspace page equating the Bush admin era with the demise of the large-scale jamrock scene. and, as one english teacher to another: good luck with teaching!
quote from jambands.com "This morning, in a PopMatters story, Robert Costa wrote that Tom Marshall has been recording and writing with Trey Anastasio for the past four months and suggests that Anastasio is eager to perform with Phish. In a portion of Costa's conversation with Marshall that did not appear on PopMatters, Marshall explains, "I have the old Trey back, which is incredible. He's happy and I'm happy. The magic word is happiness and we've got it back."
