I have a question regarding that - in an interview, should a dreadhead raise the issue of their hair first? Or should they just wait until the employer says something? I'm guessing the second option is more likely to get the job. In fact recently I was turned down for a job (different company) because I was going to be working with customers face to face. HOWEVER - they said it was because of my age/experience, and not because of the dreads themselves......
this is a good point.... i had a hard time finding job before i had dreads, because of my long hair.... now with my dreads i agree with you.... is it right to ask about dreads or not? last job interview i had was 3 weeks ago and i've heard nothing, and didnt get asked about my dreads nor did i raise the issue.... now im regretting not speaking up
What I like to do whenever I go to interviews is to disarm the hostility immediately. I usually say "I know I have dreads but I'm willing to cut them if needed yada yada". People in general are judgemental but if you inject that in the very first secs/min of the interview process most of them will start judging you based on your qualifications. Then if they decide to give you an offer, that's the best time you negotiate w/ them and make ends meet.
I work as a hospital administrator. Nobody second guesses my integrity or professionalism because of my dreads, and I wouldn't have it any other way
if u want to own a bussiness you can wear dogshit in your hair if you feel like it or stick it straight up in the air and paint it neon green and yellow. to own the kinda bussiness i work for you just need a class that is less than a year long (i'd recomend atleast a 2 year degree in bussiness though) and 30 grand in the bank (you can get a loan) then you get all the clients you have staff for, and each client you get like 20 grand a month for.
