    Hello,

I'm going to be going to Amsterdam in mid-October for 3 days and looking for cheap accomadation, would like en-suite shower as I'm going with the wife. I'd rather not stay in a hostel, has anyone got any suggestions?

    Try Greenhouse Effect Hotel.

If you mention how much you want to spend (cheap is a relative term) and in what area you'd like to stay you may get more responses.

    Thanks.

I'm looking at paying £150gbp max for 3 nights so I understand I won't be staying in the Hilton.

I want to stay in a convenient place close but specifically in the centre. So I guess I'm not too picky location wise but a 20 minute walk to the centre would be ideal. I might take taxi's back if its too late at night although i don't mind walking 25 minutes as long as its a safe journey home at night.

    Hi Absent,

We stayed at http://www.nadia.nl , nice little b&b and the staff are very very helpful. About 20 min walk from the red light area.

I stayed at the Nadia. The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are clean--but they are small, VERY small (not a big deal), my biggest problem was the very steep and narrow flight of stairs that you have to climb with your bags (there is no lift at all). Now, you may think "thats not such a big deal"..and you'd be right...except if you had to do it at 2 am after walking the city all day and you're drunk and stoned, and your room is on the 3rd or 4th floor. IT SUCKED! and it's for that reason, I never went there again.

I went to the RHO, just off Dam Square, almost the same price and much more modern (better breakfast too)

In my honest opinion you can't get any better as far as cheaper hotels go than the Abba hotel.

45E/night when I was there last
