i go to church with my family on holidays that are important to my family. i like the social aspect of church, and its refreshing every once in a while. if i'm lucky, i even like the sermon and the ceremony. but mostly when i do go, its just to make my parents happy that the family is together
After reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, I was thoroughly disenchanted with all religion, and have chosen to live out my days as an atheist But I always keep my options open Hotwater
after reading "the god delusion" by richard dawkins I went on to think that richard dawkins is an idiot, and unable to actually do the research he needs to do for a book he is writing.
I believe there is a difference between religion and God. I personally believe in a creator, but religion is nothing more than man-made dogma to control people through fear and guilt. It has always went hand in glove with politics and money.
he draws a picture based upon the absolute worst stereotypes, and insanities, he misquotes quite a few times, and he presents his works of atheist propaganda as academic works. he is the rush limbaugh of atheism.
i am areligious, but certainly not atheist. i am a staunch theist. however i subscribe to NO religion of any sort. some i appreciate more than others. most have something to offer, and something beautiful about them. but none hold a monopoly on truth, and many in some way or another try to control people (even if it isnt an absolute goal of the religion, it happens often) so no, i'm not religious, but i think that people who strongly oppose the idea of there being something that empiricism cannot explain are as deluded as those who strongly believe that one religion and one religion only holds all the truth worth holding.....
I believe in god, in fact, I know god exists I believe that organized religion, for the most part, has strayed, VERY far from what it should be. and churches, for the most part, sicken me. that is not to say that I haven't been in one or two that were okay and, further, not to say that I won't try again. but, I do not go to church regularly, as, for the most part, it is simply myspace for middle aged women who want control.
last time i went to chucrh regularly was a couple years ago cuz i was in a foreign land and wanted to play on a baseball team
Each morning I wake up, take a deep breath and enter the world. TO me....this lifetime is the church. No dogma for me though.
