For a while now I've felt the need to be creative... I suck at art, can't draw to save my life, don't have the will to write (although I do have a theme for a story I'd like to write at some point, just not yet), and I was running out of ideas...

That is until I remembered that I've got Dance eJay 6, a program that legs you compose your own dance/trance/techno music on your own computer. It provides you with all the easy to use tools, as well as a huge library of over 4000 sample to play around with.

So I decided to load it up, and give creating music a go... click below to listen to my first song:

Feels like Heaven by Daniel Hollands

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me lots of feedback... what did you like, what didn't you like, what direction do you think I should take for future creations?

    Thank you.

hhhmmm, I don't know that I'd say it was video game music... I'm not sure i'd say it was health club music either (but then, seeing as I don't go to health clubs, I don't know what music they play).

It was going to be a very chilled-out bit of music, using a tune i created using four samples that I started with, but then all of a sudden it got very upbeat, so I went with it.

It wasn't going to have any words in it at all to start with, but it got to a point where I felt it was lacking something, so I tried a bunch of diffrent voice samples, until I found the ones about 'Heaven' (Heaven is a strange subject for me to write a song about, seeing as I don't believe in it, but it worked with the tune, so I used it - it's since been suggested by someone that the 'feel like heaven' could be a reference to my love of masturbation, but I sure didn't plan that to be the case.)

Anyway, I'm going to start spending more time LISTENING to some of the music I like to get a feel for how it works, so that my second effort can be a bit more structured (I feel this one was all over the place, kept going off on tangents)...

anyone else fancy offering some feedback?

I feel like it needs more of an established drumline through the whole song. It's pretty good for a "slow" trance song. Kinda reminds me of Daft Punk.

All in all I'd say I like it.

OK, here is "Feels like Heaven (DJ Dan's Funky Remix)":

    http://www.theworldofdan.co.uk/music/Feels_like_Heaven_(Funky).zip

I kept the same base, but removed the voices, changed the bass, and changed that piano sample, as well as upping the pitch a bit, so it's now slighly faster, and higher pitch, but as a result, shorter.

Let me know what you think (I prefer the funky remix, but it's moving away from the type of music I want to make).

Thank you. I prefer the second one myself.. it took on a totally diffrent form, but I think it worked well..

I'm in the process of doing a new one, but something's not quite right with it, so i stopped working on that a couple days ago to give myself a break, and will start again on it soon
