This thread is a little idea that I thought would be nice for everyone to share. Basically, there will be a list of places where people might go barefoot, and under each section there will be a list of little tips and general comments about what it's like, so if you'd like to put a comment under a certain section, all you have to do is post it here and I'll add it to this post. It'll eventually, hopefully, almost be like an encyclopaedia made for barefooters, by barefooters. If you don't understand me, just look below and you'll get the gist of it.

    College

    • "College is probably one of the easiest places to get away with being barefoot. If you can't do it here, then the odds are you can't do it anywhere. Don't be afraid of being barefoot at college, as people are very relaxed, and the majority won't even notice. Those who do probably won't care." - Lollercopters
    Driving

    • "Driving is a very good thing to do barefoot. Nobody can see your feet, so there's nothing to be scared of if you're a beginner, and despite what anyone says, it's not illegal to drive barefoot in most known countries." - Lollercopters
    Fast Food

    • "Fast food restaurants are very dirty a lot of the time, so if you're barefoot in one of these places, expect to come out with filthy soles. You will probably be asked to put some shoes on by order of the health department, but that's pure bull, so you can ignore it." - Lollercopters
    Laws

    • "Despite what anyone says, no known country has any laws against being barefoot in public, nor are there any health codes which forbid it, so if anyone challenges you, tell them just how wrong they are!" - Lollercopters
    Parks

    • "Always a good place to be barefoot. Just find a nice quiet place, lie down and take off your shoes. Another great place to be barefoot without looking absolutely mad." - Lollercopters
    School

    • "School is probably one of the toughest places for getting away with being barefoot, especially if you attend one with a uniform, or where shoes are mentioned in the dress code. But I would say that as long as you don't draw attention, then you won't be badgered by the shoe Nazi patrollers." - Lollercopters
    Streets

    • "One of the best places to get used to being barefoot is in the street, but make sure the weather is right, and watch where you step, otherwise you may end up in pain" - Lollercopters
    Theaters

    • "A great place to kick off your shoes and get used to being barefoot. There's usually always someone else who takes off their shoes, so you shouldn't appear like a total nutcase if you do." - Lollercopters
    Woods

    • "Woods are a nice, private and quiet place where there are usually not to many people, so it's always a good place to get used to being barefoot outdoors and to get yourself accustomed to the different sensations you will encounter" - Lollercopters
So, if you have anything you would like to add a comment to a section (or even have a new section created), whether it be hints and tips, or just general comments, feel free to post in here, just make sure you tell me what section to put it under. Hopefully this could make a really good little guide for beginners.

Fast food places are great for filthy feet. So is the fruit and veggie section of grocery stores, the floors are sticky and make your soles get filthy. Streets and parking garages are great also. This summer did a lot of NYC train stations and subway stations/cars barefoot. Soles get totally black and take weeks to get clean.

This is awesome! Somebody shoulda done this long ago. What about adding a little section on barefoot care, dealing with criticism, and health benefits?

Any "old town" area designed to attract shoppers and tourists. Such areas are vital to the city's commercial life, so the sidewalks will be particularly well maintained -- broken glass and errant gravel won't lie in place long. Also, you'll find the atmosphere festive. Visitors come to relax and enjoy themselves, and won't likely take offense at seeing someone dressed down that extra little bit.

Then stay the heck out of this forum unless you have something worthwhile to contribute!

    Sorry I will "contribute" something,

I only take off my shoes when I'm in bed, I would however leave them on if I were to kick my foot in the direction of an dickheads ass.

This 'direction of an dickheads ass' is this the place to which you pray? Only ask because it seems that this forum may not be for you and you have better go in peace back to commune with 'an dickheads ass'.

    bestwishes:)
