First off I am 18 and on a strong painkiller through a nose spray for severe migraines and am only prescribed 3 refills every 6 months (30 doses). I am wanting to talk to my DR about possibly upping the refills to maybe 4 every 6 months.

Back in April within a two week period I stupidly took a ton of my moms percocets and darvocets and she found out and staged this "intervention" (even thought it had only been two weeks).

The doc tried to switch me to imitrex but I had an allergic reaction and we ended up going back to the nose spray.

Once again I stupidly refilled all 3 in a short period of time so now I am out..

I went into the doc's 2 weeks ago and while I was changing clothes he accidentaly left my medical chart in the room. I snuck a peak and I noticed that a page said "PATIENTS MOTHER CALLED AND REPORTED SIGNIFICANT NARCOTIC ABUSE, DO NOT PRESCRIBE ANY NARCOTICS FOR THIS PATIENT".

Now my father is a narcotics abuser and still goes to the same doc, and he continues to prescribe to him even though my mom warned them about him.

I am worried about a couple of things, if I talk to my doc about upping to 4 refills might he take the prescription away ENTIRELY in the future?

And how could this affect my future painkillers, that being in my medical chart? Is there anyway to have it removed since I am 18 or am I just screwed?

Is it legal that they dont give you narcs because you jacked some off your mom for rec use? Definately. I think you're fucked. Should think about the shit you do next time.
What logic is in that? I think since your 18 it fucked you even more.

Good luck dealing with your LEGIT pain. If you actually need narcs for pain, dont abuse them and get busted.

You should have jacked the page from your chart; with it in your chart the chance of you getting any type of real pain meds is zilch. The nasal spary you speak of is called Stadol. It is a partial agonist/antagonist much like Suboxone. You may be able to get that scripted since it's only a CIV drug, meaning low abuse potential; nothing like Percocet, Morphine, or OxyContin. Good luck!

I KNOW That I should not have taken them.. Thank you capt. OBVIOUS!!!! It started because I ran out of my migraine med and my mom gave me a few darvocets within a couple days and I just kept taking them because I had hangover headaches FROM the darvos!!!!

My question was IF I CHANGE DOCS DOES IT STAY ON FILE SOMEHOW??? CAN I JUST PULL OUT THE PHYSICAL NOTE AND IT WILL BE "GONE" from my RECORD?

And HOW can another adult CLAIM with NO PROOF that you took their meds, preventing you from EVER getting narcotics?? That seems pretty messed up..

They called in 3 refills back in... The end of June.. for my migraine meds.... so I know they will refill it.. Im just wondering if they will start calling it in for 4 bottles instead of 3 every six months.

If you change doctors...it depends on the new doctor you go to. Do you currently go to a pain management doctor, or is it just a PCP?

If you decide to change doctors, request a copy of your records. This way you can review what they say before turning them over to the new doctor. If you just have the old doctor's staff send them to the new doctor, you will never know what they say.

Also if you are going to request an additional refill, my advice would be to make an appointment and ask the doctor face to face. IME, that's the best way to go. If he/she confronts you about your mother calling in, tell him/her the truth. Say you were out of your Stadol (reason you are asking for an additional refill) and you tried a Darvocet of your Mother's and she got upset with you. Don't mention the Percocet at all, just the Darvocet, because it's garbage anyway!

The reason I asked if it was a PM doc, is because they usually don't need ALL your records to take you on as a patient. The only thing I needed was the last 3 months notes from my previous pain doc...so they wouldn't even know about the other information in there.

It is a primary care physician. See, it partially upsets me because my mom doesnt even need them. She is one of those people who just has them on hand "just in case". If my sister starts complaining about her back my moms answer is, "here is a valium".

For example she had her PERCS refilled for her knee (supposedly) about a month ago and she got into a fight with my sister and me. Later she admitted that she had been taking the percs even though she didnt need them that much and that is why she was mad (she gets MEAN on painkillers). She flushed 60 percs....

Then he refilled more at a later time.
My doc is opiate happy.. Seriously.. then my dad went to a PM specialist and he just got him even more OXY.. I swear.. crazy oklahoma doctors.

When I change docs do I physically take the records over (so I could remove that), or is it perm. going to be in there?

And to the jerk up at the top, the reason I said because I am 18 I meant because I am an adult. My mom is easily angered.. VERY easily angered, and immediatly called in and reported when my dad took a couple of her pills.. I mean.. For example, can a husband call and say I took his painpills and them mark it in my folder to NEVER GIVE ME NARCOTICS? Then it turns out he is just mad for some reason and lied about that for revenge..

That is pretty messed up. There is NO proof of anything.. My mom just called to get more painpills and sure enough with no proof they refilled them. What if she was just a pillpopper looking for more pills?

I would physically get the records from your PCP and take them to the new doctor myself, this way you can remove that IF it's in there. But in all likelihood if you request copies of your records from your PCP, they will remove than part before you get them anyway. You should be ok as long as you do it this way; that is ask for your records, physically get them yourself and take them to the new doctor. DO NOT let your PCP send them for you because then you will not know what is in them. Just remeber you have the right to a copy of your records, do not tell your PCP where you will be taking them either. That way they can;t send that info behind you back. just tell them you need a copy for a new doctor and if they ask if you want them to send them, say no thanks I'll come and get them.

Be prepared to pay PER page for all of your records.

That's really crappy what your mom did to you.
Roxi made a really good suggestion, to physically take your records to the new doc yourself. If you get a new doc, and that isn't in your records, you'll be fine to get anything you need.

Again guys, you have to understand that doctors charge you for your records, usually PER PAGE.

If you have been seeing this doctor for a decent length of time...you probably at least have 50 pages of charts and notes and other things in your chart. They usually charge $1 per page, so just be prepared for that.

You don't know the name of your own medication? How does it "resemble" a painkiller?

Im guessing that is Fioricet... The spray I use is a flat out opiate, fioricet is barbiturate. I tried that for a little while but it did make me did, but not tired. Problem was that it can interfere with birth control pills so UH UH!! Not for me!

You're all retarded, they fax records from office to office by request. You don't just get to pick and choose what records you want the doctor to see. See signature...

You don't get to choose which records you want, but you DO have the option to pick up your records and pay for them. See: your signature

I am in pain management, so yes, I know first hand this is possible. The main reason I ended up doing this is because my old doctors office was slow as fuck and never got shit done, so I finally asked if I could just come pick up my records. They charged me 1$ per page. Again, see: your signature
