How do I go about doing this? It has essentially been my life's ambition since I was a small child. Here's what I had in mind:

    1. I want to build a small, agrarian community, based upon egalitarian social structure. Probably modeled cloest after the anarcho-syndicalist communes in Spain before Franco. From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.

    2. Religious/Spiritual aspect - the commune will be a place of worship for all deities and beliefs.

    3. Artistic aspect - I'd like to model it somewhat after the bohemian communes in france in the 19th century, where everyone is producing art, et cetera.

How do I do this? Where is the land cheap and the laws liberal? I live in southern california, so I'd like it to be somewhat nearby. I can probably get seeds for food and drugs for free; how much money would I need for such an endeavor? Also, how do I attract citizens for my society, and how do I avoid narcs?

dunno much, but try staying at a couple of ecovillages and communes. Atleast youll get how they work, and understand the complexity of justice and order within the commune.

Learn farming, and i would recommend you steer clear of the drugs, or risk some police intrusion, fucking pigs.

But your idea does sound interesting.

There is much to take into account.

What kind of shelter? Will you live on a grid, or make your own power, or live without it? Food, how will you get it? What will be the rules(take this as far as you see fit and based on the consenus of your fellow members)

    im interested

    what skills do you have?

Yeah, what skills do you all have, and what kind of work ethic do you have?

These, for me at this point, are the most important questions about the forming of community. We have the land, a bunch of hippies, and little getting done. We need some rules and structure! <laugh>

Most of our generation rather lack personal motivation and empowerment, and mostly grew up with no skills at all. :(
