commentary humor is temporary. as relevant as it is in the moment, and potentially funny, it is worth no more than Jay leno's nightly monologue, it's cycle only being slightly longer because puritans still have power for a time.

 

appreciation of incongruity isn't intuitive though, it is based very strongly in your upbringing, and social context, it is a mechanical, and intellectual understanding.

Although I think you misunderstand her, greatly. As do most people.

Her stuff is about how ignorance coupled with arrogance cannot be beat. It has little to do with social commentary aside from surface.

 

the thing is, I do not need to be taught, though my understanding of humor is mechanical, it is simply that I see the parts of the whole, instead of going with some whimsical organic amorphous blob of humor.

it's the difference between improvising on an instrument, and composing the music with an understanding of how the notes will interact before hand.

The delivery part, I might have to either take some acting lessons or tough it way out.

Bob Newhart and George Carlin are both cerebral in their approach to comedy.

Further, I think potty jokes are great material for comedy. Unless you think comedy is an academic discussion about post-modernism.
