it is not that guys are more funny, it is that comedy stems from trauma (usually, at least the good shit) and the way gender roles and stereotypes mete out women get less chance to be actual quality funny.
what the hell have you been smokin' and why aren't you sharing? damn .. i'm becoming ANGRY HIPPY! .. lack of weed i tells ya.
Comedians make shitty wages and rip off other peoples material. Plus you need to accept insults and get used to being yelled at. For this reason, comedy is a male-dominated "career".
nothing, but, seriously, look at the pantheon of comics, it's mostly borne of trauma (unless we're talking bullshit "comedy" like leslie nielson) if a woman goes onstage and makes fun of trauma she's suffered (daddy beating her, not being able to get a date, men or women making fun of their attempts to date) it's more sad than funny (unless she's good, which is rare, because good comics are rare in general, guys get more slack on actual quality) so, if we're talking just numbers, based on what is "funny" across the board, women have a SERIOUS handicap, if this were a matriarchal society there would be more funny women for the same reason.
also, a percentage of the better known female comics put people off by their menstruation jokes, and people begin to expect that from other female comics. but, were we to leave comics out of it, men would still have more funny people because funny is a trait a percentage of men need to breed I'd like a funny mate, but it's not a criteria for most of the men breeding out there.
women are less able to accept the shitty wages, because they are asked to grow up younger by our society, men aren't required to grow up, so, you can be a 40 year old man, living in his car, shucking jokes at nowhere bars across the south, and it's okay. men are allowed to bullshit through life more than women are man does it, he's "free" woman does it, she has no roots, it's bullshit, but that's how america is right now. it's sutle sexism that won't be addressed for a long time. and Ari, I just realized who you remind me of.... just you aren't blond, or norwegian....
there is no comma, he's trying to say all men are smart, and sneak it under the radar of people of lesser intellect, quite james bond if you ask me
I think men are more funny. In general. Definitely. Women would be funny if they had more guts. Like Sarah.
she isn't real funny, she is a juxtaposition humorist, but she isn't classically funny, her timing is utter shit, and as society opens up more, her humor will become irrelevant, and dull.
I spent a few years trying to understand funny, as I was, at the time, not, and have a whole notebook (one of those big fuckers that makes a SOUND when you drop it on a table) full of understanding of the subject, it's context, and social role. I can't help but not help.
