Hello All, I am coming back to weed after a long absence and am looking for a new everyday piece. Bubblers are new to me and I found a nice double chambered one I like.

My question is does a double chamber really make a difference, or, volume of water being equal, is one chamber just as good as two for cooling (cleaning) the smoke.

I would like to hear about personal experience as well as from anyone who may be familiar with the physics involved.

    Thanks.

it will likely help, but also looks badass in the process. for a sherlock pipe tho, i wouldnt get it. you want a regular pipe and/or bong, not a hybrid that you will be too lazy to fill half the times that you use it

Yea, too much fussing isn't good. In your experience does one big water chamber work as well as two small chambers?

in terms of filtering, yeah, it should be as good if not better to use two seperate smaller chambers. at least, thats an assumption i've made. keep in mind it will NOT make the smoke any cleaner, and its actually been shown that water filtration may in fact be more harmful to the smoker.

in terms of cooling, no, it wont be better.

but in comparison to a bubbler, there is -relatively- little difference between chamber sizes -in general-

if you WERE to find a bubbler with a single chamber twice as big as either of those, it wont do any better for you. in terms of cooling the smoke (which i'm not a fan of for a number of reasons) your best bet would be a full sized bong with a very large chamber. you'd also want an ice-safe bong, or else just be VERY careful putting the ice cubes in it so as not to break the female piece.

but thats a nice looking double bubbler, and its a great price. if i had my own place and were at liberty to smoke from a bubbler on the regular, i'd buy that in a second

Thanks for that 8000th post, wow! I am considering bongs also, was mostly interested in getting a healthier toke. I don't want to go for a vape, but I will have to research your comment on possible harm from water filtration.

    Thanks again

the issue is that it filters out not only watersoluble components, but also cools much of the insoluble components to the point of condensation. so for instance, really cold water will cool the smoke and make it more comfortable on the lungs and throat (in most people's opinion) but this will cause uneccesary quantities of resin and such to accumulate right near the water, in the bong. so it removes many things which dissolve into the water, and some things which do not (lowering THC quantity while doing so)

but other things, like carbon monoxide and such, get through the water just fine. the bong hits generally are very effective and get you high pretty fast, but its mostly due to taking larger hits and being able to hold them in longer.

"whole" smoke, that is unfiltered smoke, is healthier in general, as is taking smaller hits.

if you do go for a bong, i highly recommend trying warm, steamy water as an alternative to the traditional cold/icewater. the steam mixes with the smoke and in my opinion increases the comfort of the hit far more than ice water ever could. lets face it, smoke is hot, and if you cool it too much, there will be less smoke than you started out with. instead of cooling the smoke, try adding moisture (steam) to it instead, its far more soothing to the throat in my opinion.

i will add that your location states southwestern ohio (what area? i'm currently in indiana for school, but live in the columbus area of ohio) and everyonedoesit.com is a UK based company and will charge a lot more for shipping. since its international shipping, there is a slim chance it may never get to you. its unlikely, but customs officials could potentially open the package, and could potentially throw it out.

www.chunkyglasspipes.com on the other hand is an american based company with some good pieces and good prices. http://www.chunkyglasspipes.com/color-double-bubbler.html this is the exact same bubbler as you were looking at, but on clearance at a US based company. its around 5 bucks less expensive to begin with, and on top of that will have fewer s/h fees to deal with. also little to no chance of it being opened and discarded on its way to you.

i know you'd prefer to not use a vaporiser, but this is an EXCELLENT price on an effective style of vape: http://www.chunkyglasspipes.com/digital-vaporizer.html
i have a similar one which cost over twice that in a store.

now if you're dead against the idea of warm/hot water instead of cold, then if you're gonna go for cooling you want it to be very cool. with ice! this would be a good choice, about a foot and a half, perfectly large water resevoir, and an ice catcher (keeps the ice above, out of the water, and prevents heavy ice cubes from cracking the female piece when you drop them in)

I heartily support the use of warm water. Like nesta said, the steam helps more than the change of temperature would. The best of both worlds, IMO, is a bong with warm water and ice in an ice catcher. That gets it to a comfortable temp and gives you the soothing steam.
