hi everybody... i miss you all, i've been lucky not to be online as much here, but i miss hanging around the forums :)

so it's getting to be that time where i have to decide whether or not to start letting locks form... i've been thinking about it really hard, because the past two times i backcombed them and then took them out after like two weeks, and if i do them this time i want to do them for much longer than that. :) (hopefully natural but we'll see, i'm moving to chicago and hoping to get an office job, so i don't know how well that'd fly. semiformed dreads would be easier to put up i think.)

anyway, i think i asked this question before, so i'm sorry if i'm repeating myself. i sweat a lot because i exercise a lot, and here in arizona it's still 100 fucking degrees every day and i get sweaty just by walking outside. because of this i shower constantly. usually i will just rinse my hair because i don't want to wash it twice a day, but i'm wondering how will this affect locks. i know i can just put them up in a shower cap, but if i sweat on them i don't want them to just sit like that because they'll get nasty. what do you guys do about this? do you just rinse them the way you would loose hair if you were sweaty? and if so does it wreck them?

worth mentining is that i will probably already be washing them 2-3 times a week because for whatever reason when i start using dr. bronners the oil in my hair goes crazy.

    thanks for the input. :)

hey! rinsing your dreads daily or whatever shouldn't hurt them. although i usually stick mine up on top of my head when i shower if i'm not doing my weekly wash.

i get sweaty as hell a lot too. it gets over 100 sometimes even up here in norcal. :D but it doesn't usually bother my dreads to stay a little sweaty. they rarely smell icky, even at the end of the week, and i think the salt helps them lock up actually, lol!

oh, and bronners makes my hair greasy too. i use avalon organics peppermint, or you could do the baking soda thing that SE is always talking about. :D i like shampoo and the way it smells, so i don't use it... but i'm sure you'll find something that works for you!

and i can't really say anything bad about either backcombing or neglect, though i never tried the neglect method... but i had a kinda office-ish job when i started mine, and that's partly why i went with backcoming. it worked out well. :D

Nah! I let my soul gravitate to the love and I LOVE dreadlocks!!! :) I'm new on here and I found this place by searching hippies on the web. I'm loving all the cool stuff on here, but dreadlocks are dear to my heart and I'm happy to see so many others! Lots of love and peace!
