I guess this is more about relocation than travel, but does anyone know what life in Sweden is like? Here's the thing. My fiance is seriously working towards moving there, so that he can take another try at college/med school, since tuition is free (but you have to pay for living space, food, etc. - he'd get a part time job for that), as long as you can speak Swedish. Obviously we're planning on getting married once I've gone through college myself, so I'd be heading over there too. How we first got the idea is actually a pretty funny/bizarre story: we're both huge fans of ABBA (that's also how we met in the first place)... we can speak a bit of the language, and have heard generally good things about the country. (You know, except for the winters.) I've gotten the feeling that the attitude is generally liberal, and that getting a marriage license would be easier there than in the U.S., since the fact that he's trans wouldn't be an issue. ...Though I do find it ironic that I'd essentially be reversing what my Norwegian ancestors did by immigrating here in the first place! So does anyone have any tips, advice, facts or fiction about life in Sweden? Tack så mycket!
Hi i am actually a swede so just fire away any questions you might have and i will try to answer them But yes our country is great and quite liberal actually. Great that you to like ABBA they are our pride and joy but just ask me varsågod
I am from sweden, you can ask me or lillith89 if you want... but i must say that sweden si a good coutry.. not very much homeless people, free hospitals and free schools
I am swedish too. Dont worry too much about the langue, people in sweden are in general quite good at english anyway. (even if its not perfect) U can go by car to norway, np. I have done it twice. U can also take the aeroplane or the train... I guess u can do it to Netherlands too. EU makes it really easy traveling in Europe. I was in Germany last week, and they didnt look at my passport either...
Jattebra! Drifting around Stockholm and its archipelago by boat. Systembolaget; in summer it is hot enough to swim. The Rival Cinema. What other hotel can boast an inhouse art deco movie theater in the basement? The special pillow menu.
Hii I'm from Sweden too. I hope you will like it ones you get here. I saw you were worried about the winter lol you don't have to be. It's not what it used to be...depending on where you live. If you're moving far up the country then yeah but if you stick to Stockholm or Gothenburg then it's not as cold as the rumor has it. It's not very expensive in Sweden at all. Not if you compare to like NYC haha. I hope you like it and just ask anything you want to now. If you want a swedish lesson I'm here
I want to move to Sweden I'm going to try to get work in an NZ embassy there Then one day become ambassador
Well, my friend booked very cheap air tickets to Stockholm. Then we plan to hitchhike for a week throuht the country bit (it´s not much, I know), but I´m afraid how to get out from the big city...also heard that Scandinavia is very expensive...how is it with inter-city transport? Also can you recommend some interesting things somewhere around Stockholm? Out of city, thought. Around means as it is possible to come back during week Arlandis: nice ambition
Hey there, I'm Swedish too and making my first post here But life in Sweden is like everywhere else - just what you make of it. But don't worry about the winters here. It's just a bit dark during the winter season. Swedish people are very reserved but liberal. At first, Swedish people might act rude since they aren't like Greek or Italian people. It's hard to make contact with the people here but once you've found a Swedish friend, you have a friend for life. An Italian guy who used to live here told me that 1 Swedish friend was like 5 Italians. It's harder to make friends with us but we care about our friends.
