has anybody used Norplant or another implant birth control? it's looking kinda good to me... don't have to think about it, it lasts a long time, very cost effective if you leave it in for so long. I asked my mom about it and she doesn't know anybody who's used it.

any opinions or thoughts? do you feel it or see it in your arm? i haven't talked to my doctor about it yet.

feel free to promote your fav bc method here too... i'm still looking.

you do feel and see it. It's no biggie though. If you can handle the hormones I bet your fine but then again what do I know about it. I'm a guy. I just regurgitate all the shit I hear my wife say.
the feel and see part is true though

    ewww...

    that freaks me out...

i don't like those or those IUDs...

have you thought about going the old fashioned route and keeping track of your cycles and perhaps using condoms....?

if you breastfeed your child that's natural birth control for awhile.....

i just would be leery with anything that messes with my natural hormones... and with anything that is IMPLANTED into my body....

I had a friend with one and thats exactly what it looks like. It looked less weird on my friend. This girl in your pic is way too skinny

breast feeding isn't a very good method for birth control. some women are just more fecund than others and it does no good at all. i started my period IMMEDIATELY after having my daughters. my oldest had a period with me for three months. we freaked, thinking she was sick. but it turned out it was just menstrual blood. not unheard of, but rare. i wouldn't risk it.

but at any rate, tigerlily, you've got a pretty damned ideal body fat ratio. i doubt the norplant would show up in you quite so much. iud's really aren't that bad, but really are best only AFTER you have a child. they're not the nightmare instruments of vicious scarring and infection they once were.

it does work. i got away with it for year. if you're breastfeeding around the clock, exclusively then your chances are better of keeping ovulation away longer, although, it varies form woman to woman. the big problem is, you don't know when you start ovulating again until you have a period or you find out you're pregnant again. (surprise)

Bam, exactly. I'd steer clear of that form.

I was sort of doing this when i got pregnant... i have a very regular cycle and was only having sex like once a month, but it's too tough to resist condomless sex when i'm ovulating, even if i KNOW it's taking a huge risk, my hormones take over. i know i need to be on something.

i guess i really just need to talk to my doctor. my mom has an IUD and loves it except that her first day is always super heavy. i was fine on depo- but the doctor was leery of continuing it because it messes with bone density. didn't like yasmin because it gave me cramps... i never had cramps until that month i was on it, i stopped taking it and ever since then i get them. that pissed me off- the bigger boobs went away and the cramps stayed.

did you know medicaid covers tube tying if you're over 21? they told me that at my interview...

Implants don't look like that any more, they're now just a thin little flexi thing which is about the size of one of the prongs on the other one. They also go into the top of your arm now.

i would be very leery of anything hormonal. it fucks with the natural reproductive cycle that keeps your reproductive "stuff" healthy. i'm convinced that the rise in use of hormonal birth control is a major cause of the rise in things like endometriosis, and other problems that are causing more and more 30-40ish women to get total fucking hysterectomies.

the copper iud i had was ok... it was nice knowing there was virtually no chance of getting preggers. but my body just didn't like it, and every time i had a period, tried to get rid of it. it was quite uncomfortable, and i felt it a lot during sex. probably in part because i haven't had a kid yet. plus the copper wire scratched my partner's sensitive spots.

there's a method where you test your spit under a microscope... ovu-tech i think, that works like the rhythm method, but tests your spit instead of your temperature. i've been thinking about trying it, cause right now we're just doing the pull out thing, which kind of sucks, IMO, but it's the only free, completely natural method that doesn't require remembering to take my temp before i bolt out of bed to pee in the mornings.

but why are you considering a tubal? are you not planning on any more kids? if this is your first, i'd wait a while before you tie em off, cause you never know you might change your mind later and want more kids.

i'm not considering a tubal at all, I just thought it was interesting that medicaid will pay for it at such a young age. i've read lots of places where doctors refuse you before a certain age or certain number of children

I had mine cut, tied, and burnt at 36 and 3 kids. Pretty much sure at that point. Early to mid twenties is too early but hey, you never know with some folks.
