Hurricanes are racist anyway. They chased all the black people in New Orleans to Houston, and now look what happened...

if americans would be willing to have a break in culture, and architecture, hurricanes would do much less damage

there are a great many hurricane proof construction methods, that are simply unpopular because the house rendered looks incredibly unconventional, and most people don't want an unconventional house...

in some areas they're requiring windows and doors to withstand a "missile test" where they basically shoot a log of wood into a window at so many miles per hour... (i can't remember the specifics and i'm too lazy to look it up) but they're not requiring the same of walls yet (or weren't a couple months ago)... so the chunk of wood that bounces off your window would crush a hole in your wall.

I can’t believe people rode out a storm on an island that low and small..

I’ve lived by the ocean before and when it gets stormy you just gotta respect it.

It is cool to see some homes still standing = quality construction, I framed homes for years and you can spend an extra 10% a really beef up a home, but theirs a point about 130 mile an hour wind where only a caste or a LSD church will stand up to it.

Yeah but I'm not creepy. And I survived 5 hurricanes in central Florida in the 70s because I went to the friggin shelter when the evac order came.
