I am looking for new and exciting meals and ways to cook rice. Have anything you like to add into your rice? Spices? Veggies? I have some on the stove now and am looking for things to make my kiddies tastebuds do a dance of joy.
eek....the little one is 6 years old. So I don't know that would make her happy. It would give the taste buds a firm punch in the mouth though.
brazilian rice add your rice to your pot and then some olive oil and heat it up for about 15 minutes to brown the rice, stirring constantly/frequently (careful not to burn the rice, you may need to add more olive oil 10 minutes in or so) next add vegetable broth to the pot instead of water and bring to a boil reduce temperature to low and put a lid on it... then when it's done cooking you'll have some amazing tasting rice. wow. you can also put some coconut milk into a pan and then about a tablespoon of red curry paste + some sea salt to taste bring that to a light boil, stir well set aside then cook rice and when it's done add the curried coconut milk and there are dozens of vegetables to choose from whenever you do either of these meals yum...
my track record isnt that great with rice...its always 50/50 when it comes to burning it when i cook...
hey, I have all this stuff. Do you add the uncooked or cooked rice? Because this might have to wait until another day. I'm trying to learn how to cook really cheaply
me and my siblings always loved it when my mom just did white rice mixed with peices of chicken and condensed mushroom soup... very very simple and kid friendly and cheap
i like veggie fried rice a lot too... i do some stir fry veggies, add rice to the pan when they're cooked, get them all seasoned with sezchwan sauce/soy sauce/stir fry sauce/oyster sauce depending on your taste and you can scramble an egg in there too. this is also easy and pretty popular. my stepdad also does chunks of chicken cooked and carmelized in oyster sauce when he does his
i LOVE nasi goreng topped with fried eggs any time of day. here is an excellent healthy recipe... i definitely recommend using basmati rice, it is healthful and flavorful. http://www.recipezaar.com/44512
make some fried rice.. it is pretty easy to do with either uncooked rice or cooked. If you start with uncooked rice brown like stalk suggested but cook in a large fry pan . Then when you add the rice and water mixture , also follow his recipe, and add either lentils, fresh veg bits(very tiny pieces) onions n garlic, if you like meat bits and chuck them all in too . Cover and cook til done then move the rice to one side and whip a couple eggs and cook like scrambled eggs. When done mix the rice bits with the egg bits and serve... This can be done with very small amounts of veg and meats . If you use froze veggies add them about 5 minutes before rice is cooked rather than when you add the water Take some chicken chunks and i like onions or other veggies and mix with bbq sauce of your liking and mix with rice, not too much just enough to make it sticky mix yer beans with your rice and serve. Any dry type bean or lentil is good with rice and is a good use of leftovers . Mixing bouillion into you water when you cook it can add loads of flavors as does browning it before you cook in water, is almost a nutty type flavor to it.. Brown your rice as suggested before , add a half cup of ketchup or tomato paste , tsp salt tsp garlic powder and 2 tsp onion powder, cook as normal in the three cups of water (or what ever amount you normally use)
Stalk....ok, I do my orzo that way. Just checkin. HHB....i'm comin to your house for dinner.:cheers2:
