So last week I found out I was pregnant (yay!) and since before I found out I've been feeling so sleepy and tired, with no energy whatsoever, which has been increasing more and more. Seriously, I spent the whole weekend sleeping and barely did anything at all. I woke up today and I've taken 3 naps already haha and Im thinking of going back to sleep. I was thinking that this happens because the baby starts taking most of the calories of everything I eat, but I've been trying to at least have a snack every couple of hours, but still I feel so tired. So tired, that I rather just sleep than eat anything. Is this normal? Anyways Im going to the Dr. on Wed, maybe if I start taking pre-natal vitamins it'll go away?
you're body is growing a baby, it's takes energy. sleep is necessary. enjoy it with your first. i used to nod off at my desk around 2:00 pm during my first trimester (before i knew i was pregnant), i thought i had mono. protein may help a little, but you'll still be tired. the vitamins may help a bit also. most likely, you'll feel better in your second trimester and tired again in your third (when the baby starts to get big). you're normal. anything NORMAL about a pregnancy is good and a sign that things are going well.
It sure wiped me out. Man all the stuff I had to do to get prepared for baby along my work and dealing with a pregger wife. You cant imagine the fatigue prgnancy causes. phew
i've read that in the first trimester the fatigue is usually really urgent, like "i have to take a nap right this second" then it goes away in the second trimester and then you get tired in the third because of all the extra weight and stuff. i'm not really sure why the fatigue happens in the first trimester... might just be hormones, like with needing to pee all the time and having a runny/stuffed nose, etc etc
Im also a vegetarian, so the protein would probably help me a lot. I try to eat healthy and have a balanced diet, but I dont always keep it up. Although now Im more concerned with eating right.
Definitely write down a list of every and all questions you may have, and bring them to your doctor appt on Wednesday. I dont know much about eating vegetarian whilst pregnant, but if you are craving meat, I think you should have it! My two cents. Often our bodies know better than our morals.
yeah i eat meat when i crave it now. there's a high risk of anemia because of all the extra blood too, so make sure you gets lots of iron along with the protein
Smart Cate Im not craving meat at all. I havent been craving much of anything, I dont really get super hungry, except for some times (at least for now), again I just get sleepy, but I think skipping meals to sleep might not be the healthiest of ideas. I just think how tired I feel it's a bit crazy for how little I do every day. I dont have a job, today I went to the store and did like 2 or 3 things and my energy level is 0, makes me feel so lazy. But Im definitely asking my doctor about taking supplements to make sure I stay healthy. Im definitely writing the questions down, I have a million of them
Im scared that the doctor is gonna tell me that I have anemia. I've had it before, though that was years ago, but usually the difference between me being anemic and not is very small. I know I havent been eating too well, so I hope everything's ok.
i was sleepy all through my pregnancies. i never stopped being sleepy. but it did get better after the first trimester.
I was super tired for the amount time that the morning sickness lasted, after that I could at least function during the day!!
I just feel bad because I dont even have a job and Im so tired that John cleans everything when he comes home and even makes me dinner sometimes. I dont think it's fair to him, but Im lucky to have such a helpful esposo. On the other hand, I went to the doctor and I just met with this nurse and we talked and Im now taking pre natal vitamins and I thought they would help, but not really. I feel as tired, actually even worse. Im kinda depressed, I mean, Im very happy about being pregnant and having a baby and that makes me excited, but I just feel sad and again no energy at all. I cried so much today and I know it can be due to hormones, but I dont know, it's a bit intense. Im so worried about there being something wrong with me and/or the baby. I just KNOW I dont eat right and I always had issues with having a proper diet, because most of the time I dont feel like eating. Im trying though to eat better or at least to make better choices when I do eat, but Im just not hungry and I find everything unnapealing. Like for example today I had less than a handful of cereal (no milk), two slices of whole wheat bread, the very thin kind with some smart balance "butter". A banana, like 5 appel wedges. A grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes. Another banana, a glass of orange juice and later a glass of apple juice and water. Now that I write it, it sounds like enough food, do you think it is? But soon I'll get to meet the doctor and I think that will ease my mind a lot. Oh and my approximate due date is May 22 2009
Ohh and why does being pregnant makes me feel like a baby? I just wish my mom was here to take care of me. John does a really good job, but when kids feel bad they just want their mommy
i ate those all the time when i was pregnant with my second. yum. the bad thing about a poor diet when you're pregnant is you can gain a lot of weight by eating the wrong calories and you can develop problems like pregnancy diabetes and pre-eclampsia. you can manage your weight fine if you eat the right calories and possibly avoid pregnancy related illnesses. i posted this before but i think this is the best way to eat while pregnant, although, there are many other good diets out there. http://www.bradleybirth.com/PD.aspx when my kids were babies i worked in lactation and filled in as a doula from time to time. i became immersed in the world of pregnancy and babies where i learned quite a bit. the worst book on the market, imo, is *what to expect when you're expecting*. this is a good one, http://www.amazon.com/Pregnancy-Book-Month-Month-Everything/dp/0316779148 and this is a great baby book http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Book-William-Sears/dp/000719823X. your emotions are hormones (normal) and your fatigue is normal. it takes tons of energy to grow a new human. i read 32 books when i was pregnant with my first, cross-stitched tons of stuff, made a baby quilt by hand, and ate a zillion otter pops (bad, don't do that) ... i've never had that kind of free time again, its was a real luxury.
You can do this Iliana, you are strong. Go with the flow and get to know your new body growing now This is quality you and baby time
Im gonna check those links now. Im bad with links, I need to be on the right mood to click on them, but thank you so much for all your help. What made you not like What to expect when you're expecting? Jack's mom just gave me that book yesterday and I started reading it, but it's always good to know other opinions. Im gonna check those books out and probably buy them, Im the kind of person that needs to know everything.
I just read the diet and it feels like something I can do. Minus the meat. I just need to add a couple more things to the things I eat everyday, but seems fairly easy to do. Thank you and Im sorry I didnt check it out before.
