Maybe since you guys live closer to them than I do you might understand them better than I do. Are they really as stuck up and bitter as they seem ? Or is it just me. I just don't think they like anybody. meh, maybe it's just their government. The people are more than likely just fine but they seem to be a bit snooty to me. Well I don't really know anybody from france so I guess I might be wrong. Just wondering thats all. Peace
Most French people I've met have been charming. Parisians like to cultivate an image of being rude and stand-offish, but I've often found them to be kind and helpful. The only problem with the French is their quite unwarranted assumption of superiority in every branch of literature and the arts. You just have to humour them.
Lol... I'm guessing you don't know the stereotype that all English hate the french haha... I've met nice and snooty types. Snooty ones being so because of my crappy french. And if you dont know anyone from france, you probably are wrong. :tongue:
It's funny...I'd have said the Americans are closer to the French. Didn't the French have a lot to do with the Americans winning their independence? That said, they probably did that just to spite us.

most of the french people i've met have been pretty shitty. but then, that goes for most of the people i've met. they're just french-shitty as opposed to english-shitty, canadian-shitty, or New england-shitty.
The French are good, me likes the French. People go on about them being arrogant and stuck up but most Brits and Americans are just as guilty, especially when it comes to things like language and culture, not everyone should be expected to speak english.. If a Frenchman came into a shop over here and started babbling French to the shopkeeper there's a good chance they wouldn't have a clue what was being said so why should it be any different in Paris? At least they know how to riot properly, a necessary lost art in this apathetic country. The government are shit scared of the populace as well, another good thing, and they actually stick pretty vehemently to the whole 'seperation between church and state' thing unlike other countries I can think of. Add to that they have beautiful women with extremely sexy accents, great food, culture, language, lifestyles, arcitechture and art. The French are pretty sorted... I think people that slag them off are jealous, I would be...
They have an air of arrogance over the english speaking world because they overthrew their monarchy and we're still deferential to ours.
I agree with this, as long as we consider that there are many other cultures with great assets, and all of this doesn't make one superior to the other. The French government, on the other hand, is as crappy as any other.
