I stopped combing about two and a half weeks ago, going natural. Recently I've been noticing a lot of hair falling out when I shake my head, take off a hat or anything like that. I'm assuming it's because I'm not brushing all of that hair out anymore, but I just want to make sure this is normal.

I would say thats totally normal as you are not using a hairbrush/comb anymore. When you didn't have dreads (or at least hadn't started your dread journey) all those loose hairs that you are noticing falling out now used to fall out un noticed before. Hope that makes sense!
