hiya im new to the forum.
iv had my dreads for a year now.
and they just are not at the standerd they should be atal.
i have joined ((crocheted)) many of my dreads together as they were terribly thin and that may be what stopped them from knotting up so much.
but i just dont understand why they arnt big fat and beautiful.
i know time and patience is what is needed.
but i know peoples whos dreads are 4months old and are knottyier than some of mine :(
    sorry about the pic.
i need to take a proper one soon.
this pic was a month ago.
and they seem to of got worse since this pic.
here they dont look to bad.

ooo and could dying my hair have anything to do with it??

god dam we get to do a lot of perving off girls on this forum.

Dreads look fine, mine are growing in much fatter than the existing stuff, like triple the diameter, maybe you've just been unlucky with shrinkage vs growth and your due some fat dreads. My reckoning is anything that doesn't end up down the plug hole must be attached to your head so your not going to be loosing any hair.

wel first off to continue the perving you are gorgeous. lol
but your dreads look fine thats the wonder of everyones dreads they have a life of their own and mature however they feel. my friends dreads at one year started to unknot in some of them for w.e. reason then a few months down the road they came right back and started thickenin up. like everyone else will tell you its jus time and patience. keep up good vibes about them and they will soak it all up!

    I like your dreads.
But get them thicker? I would stop crocheting (I think that have helped my hair a bit) or try comb it all out (ouch, it hurts to read, I know) and do it all over again - backcombing, but not crocheting.

hmm... well, you are incredibly beautiful :) and I really like your dreads actually, I think they look good. If you want big fat monsters, try just shoving a few into a big bead. They'll join at the roots and eventually join all the way down. It takes time. Crocheting causes quite a lot of damage to the hair as far as I know, it breaks the hairs and just kind of screws things up. You can also tie a string around a few dreads at the roots, or tying some togehter with hemp or string... not necessarily making a wrap, but you can do a criss-cross sort of lace around them, or a bit of dready bondage, and they'll join up. Don't despair :) Dreads take time... 1 year is still quite young. But they look great so far :D

mine are a year old at the end of this month!

the mix is one washing up bowl full of warm water, then add 12 tablespoons of baking soda, 2 of lemon juice, 2 of seasalt, and some drops of various essential oils, i use about 6 drops of tea tree, 2 of citronella, and a couple of patchouli, then mix it all in, and dunk your head in it, wrap your head in a towel for about 30 mins, then rinse it all out :)

people on here swear by it, you only need to do it every now and then in between weeks of normal washing, i think its accredited to kndmama originally :).

peterborough isnt all that exciting either, want to swap cities?

i had 200 mature dreads with 40 more babies being born between them
i hsd 2 so thin i swear they were only 4 or 5 hairs
240 dreads were too many to keep track of when theyre past my toes and alway s gertting me tanglesd up
so back in june i stopped seperating mine
many places 4 or 5 combined into 1
    other places 2 ppr 3
the only seperating ive done was to keep a few of the already thick ones from joining together

crochetting was a mistale, but its ok
they will thicken up as they grow the crochetted ends wiol stay like they are and unfortunatyely you'll allways have that crochetted look toi them unless they really gert rioughed up puffed out and redreasd but as nerw growrgh comes in ..do not do anything to the roots like root rubbing dreadballing anything..allow a few to combine..seperate the ones u dont want to combine..thats it..
u can let em get as thicj as u want but keep this in mind
thicker dreads are harder to clean.. u cant get at the scalp easily if thebase of 1 dreads 5 inches around... getting the inside of em cleandss also hardfer as ids getting them to dry without molding
u maybe more prone to itchy dry scalp under thicker dreads
    [IMG]
    and
    [IMG]

overall they look thick because each has done what it wants to do..i have many many some super thin only a very few are semi thick
but overall they all look fairly thick because of the blending of sizes
od say 80 or 90 percent atre thinner then a pencil
onl 4 are thicker then my thumb..maybe 5..dunno
but as they grow longer filling in doing what they do and yes some combinning they look and some are thicker..

let em grow like they wannagrow

    and
the more u love em trhe more they love u back

they look wonderful! try to sleep with a wool hat and see if that can make them loop up more to give them more girth, but i'm warning you the length with shrink alot if it works
