i really dont think that you have the right reasons for making dreadlocks. Dreads are not about looks. You dont do them because you want to look good, this is not a lipstick if you know what i mean. But i dont know if they will suit your friend, start them , wait a couple of years and see by yourslef.

Are we really talking about "your friend"?
    or are you "your friend"

Anyway... he should dreadlocks no matter what anyone says. I think they would turn out pretty sweet.

If you aren't going natural I would wait until the hair is double that length. I started my dreads with hair 3-4 inches. The stuck up everywhere for 3-4 months. Now that's over with and they are longer I'm glad I went through with it. BUT if I had to do over again I would wait.

I hope you don't think that last picture is dreadlocks though. IMO, I wouldn't sport that style at all.

But like others said, dreadlocks aren't about a style or looking good. Because in fact, for the first 4 months they most likely won't look good or even like a style. Just a frizzy tangled mess. But it's all part of the process. It's like a right to passage with your locks so to speak. If you can endure the cynicism of people and not let it phase you and have lots a patients. Then, one day you can have some kick ass locks.

dreads would look 10000 times better that that last goofy gheto style

    dreads look good on everybody
and you have no right to try convincinghim they wont look good on him
its not your choice its his
if he wants dreads he wants them for his own rewasons and thats not to look good for you
dreads arent about look s but how they make yopu feel inside
he will be happier with dreads as long as you dont try shamming him into making mustakes like using wax or cropchetting or trying to forece them to be neat early on
the more natural he goes the happier he'll be

im noyt trying to yell at ya for trying to change his mind but its trally not any of your business what he does with his hair

as far as looks go hed look great
maybe ytour afraid more girlds will hit on him..and yes maybe more wiull..but if your suppoetinve of him instead of trying to change him then hed stuill like you
(if hes kike a biyfreind thing i mean)

it looks to me like hes tried that whole idiotic gangsta thing and now wants toi move to a more spiritualy enlightened drweadlock thing its all anbout growth..its what he neeeds to do..dont hold him back

I feel dreadlocks, like most things are about looks. You do it to look good and to feel good about yourself. If looking good makes you feel good, then do it for that reason.
Not like you're getting dreadlocks to hang pictures from!

its only about looks in a way..because u autimayickly become more artractive to a few..and less attractive to others.. some will be totaly against it .. but u gain alot too
sperficial; ppl who only like the clean cut yuppy look wiull reject you without even spending 1 minute with you..while open minded kind folks will be intriguesd and want to get to know you on a deeper level rthen looks alone
u will automaticly repel those that arent worthwhile
but if its about looks alkone u are losing the attraction factor for a fair percentageof ppl..while increasing it a ton for special ppl

I'm confused... the title asks if they'll look good on you and the pictures are of your friend?

Either way, I can tell by this one post that you care way too much about what others think.
