    Does anyone here listen to ambient/black metal? There are some bands that do each track seperate, and some that can combine the two genres. My favorite has to be Kataxu, most specifically their Hunger of the Elements album. It is some of the most deep and emotional ambient I've ever heard. Other favorites include Burzum's ambient works and Leviathan(US)'s split with Sapthuran. The track Mesmerism can be described with the name of the track. Ildjarn being incredibly raw and having horrible production quality actually creates some really good ambient too.

    there's a metal band called Ufych Sormeer who play all different types of metal (including black), but have crazy ambient interludes and shit. it's not really emotional or serious, but that's what makes it awesome. and aside from black metal at all, there's an awesome band called corphagy (all members are from goregasm, oddly enough) who blend ambient and electro elements with their brural death metal style. you shouyld check 'em out

    I didn't really like that Ufych Sormeer stuff off of their crazy MAC album, but I really want to hear their first one. That album cover is just too cool not to listen to. Corphagy is pretty cool too, but I wasn't able to hear their vocals because myspace is fucking stupid. Do you like dISEMBOWELMENT?

    Do you like symphonic black metal? It can get quite ambient at times.
    Tvangeste, Limbonic Art, Capitollium, or for something more unique check out Unexpect.

    Holy shit, Kataxu are pretty good, thanks for the recomendation.

    I tend to get put off by a lot of so called "ambient black metal" bands because many of them are just plain awful.

    here are some bands you might want to check out tho:
    Xerxes, Flegethon, Sunn (((0))), Altoriu Seseliai

    I tend to stray away from symphonic black for some reasons, but I do like Tvangeste, Ceremonial Castings, and Hecate Enthroned. I really like any kind of melodic metal though, but for some reason I can't really get into symphonic. I'd really like to check out Flegethon though, they sound interesting. Can you by any chance upload some of them to megaupload or something?

    Although they're not 'black' Metal, they're still heavier than a bucket full of iron bars so I'm not entirely off-topic when I STRONGLY advise people to download and listen to DevilDriver's 'The Axe Shall Fall' (last track on latest album 'The Last Kind Words') - huge breakdown and almost 70's 'steppenwolf'-style vibe behind it near the end of track;
    it's truely something else for a band known for brutality.

    I know of Isis. They aren't what I'm talking about, but they are still really good.

    burzum's "Rundgang Um Die Transzendentale Saule Der Singularitat" is simply transcendental. as it already mentions within the track name :)

    I remember many nights, sleeping with this on repeat. great.
