Well I've always thought that one doesn't need lyrics to convey a message or provide a setting/scenario, however lately I've been writing more and more to go along with some chord progressions I've been messing around with. Do you have any lyrics you'd like to share with us? Maybe even describe how the song is played out? Why you choose those lyrics? How everything came about? etc...etc... Naturally only write what you want, simply posting your lyrics is good enough, I'd love to see what others have wrote. Just today (like 20 minutes ago in fact) I wrote these (lyrics below) to go along with a really upbeat D, A, and G major chord progression, with some finger picking and other random strumming techniques to go along with it. It's actually a fairly long song when played out, just thought I'd keep it short and fairly blunt with the lyrics, as I feel it's the instrument that should always do the majority of the talking. (Followed by picking various D, A, and G notes, from high to low...then another chord progression that slows down and actually jumps from a D to a D formation G, then C with some other shit thrown in....not the most descriptive I know, but you get the auditory picture eh?) Just realized I could have written the tab, but I usually don't even write tab for my songs...I just remember it then add on every time I go through the song again.
I'm an imperfection in a road map on a ghost town no one looks at and you're the road on the way to my escape you're long and you're winding you're not so evenly paved. if you want to know what it sounds like go to www.myspace.com/rosspolley and listen to you're too old for this robert.
heres the first verse of a song im doing. its about corporate greed and how the man lies to us. no title so far, suggestions appreciated. (along said theme, plz) 3 days gone as the businessman sings, but i know better than to trust such things cuz he knows what he wants and he gets what he knows, and he only sees gold when the black blood flows y'know i wanna stand, but im taught how to hide, cuz you cant ever loose if u dont pick a side the flood is coming so you best learn to swim cuz when the levee breaks you'll get now help from him well thats the first verse, i was looking for a melody, i was thinking something blusey, but i was thinking of like a D, C, G progression though since i suck at blues. thoughts?
Nice bro, very nice. Perhaps the title "Capital Corporate" would fit? Also, that D, C, G progression sounds sweet, more of a folk/bluegrass I'd imagine (at least the way I'd play it....we all play differently) If you are having a hard time playing the blues, just play some E, Em and A....mess around with those chords, especially as single notes on a high E and you'll have some fun. Throw in a bass line E and G (on e) it'll do wonders.
thx, ill work on it. but luckily my friend does more of the guitar playing in our acoustic group. im mostly singer/songwriter and rhythm guitar. but that helps, i may throw in some modified blues scales. but thanks, I like capital but corporate sounds a bit cliche(no offense). this is apart of verse 2, if anyone is intrested "run or swim, ya gotta believe, the 3 headed god is starting to bleed! when lies are your livelihood, the truth is death, cuz ya cant speak out if ya cant draw breath!" still need a bit but thats part 1 of verse 2
I am your angel. A crown of thorns with a halo. I may be your blessed savior. Walk on earth as if it was air. Look through my eyes. Tell me I am not alive. Wouldn’t you know? Do you believe in miracles? I wouldn’t know. For you I have hope. I let the bye gones go. There must be a deeper path. And maybe a river to pass. In a valley of hope. you can climb a vine. Or find yourself in the snow. Right into a trap. Where the most you can do is laugh. I may be your better half. Maybe its dumb. Lately ive just been thinking that this ship is sinking too much maybe im thinking too much I am too untamed. I am a mustang on the range. One more the wrong way And Im liable to leave my stay Some say im a fool wouldn’t you love to prove I am too Im good in good ways you’ll understand one day I live for the chase I am a bloodstream full of haste This time is a waste Now im writing while I paint Forget me not A flower I have wrought Too good for its own I am a beautiful creature with a name The stars are the same No matter where I stand I am accepting things I cant change And changing nonetheless I am silence in the wind We are still children Meet me out in space Where we can be amazed There are things that I know Things that you don’t There are things that you know Things that I don’t But whose to say what we know
