I saw the documentary The Hurricane of 38’ on American Experience (PBS)

It was strange seeing downtown providence underwater and watching looters in boats hitting store after store

Sadly the Hurricane of 38' also took out the last remaining stand of old growth forest in New England

I had to evacuate because of effing Gustav and my friend in Baton Rouge almost got crushed by a ceiling that caved in right in front of her. We both go to school in New Orleans.. which just got power back 2 days ago. I miss my city...

 

The Galveston hurricane was another epic disaster.

funny you should mention galveston.. he's turning that way..

 

I remember watching something about the 1938 storm on the history channel. I've personally been waiting for that one to hit, but I know thats probably not gonna happen in my lifetime
