Ok so my babies are nearly 3 months old, I backcombed them etc ^^

SHo, I sorta left them to do their own thing, with a little help- elastic bands, a little palm rolling beading and stuff every so often. I don't use wax.

The last week or so they have comPlEtely exploded xD well when I said exploded... I mean every single spare hair that could fall out has!! They are so frizzy, it makes me sad :(

I've read on other websites/forums to keep ontop of the frizz but its really hard when its this much :p

Just wondering if anyone had any advice. Will I need to spend a week sorting it all out? Or will it sort itself out? I.e. matt all together nicely xD (oohh I wish). Is there a quick fix apart from wax?

OOhh and also while I'm here... my eleastic bands have been on since the beginning, any idea of when I should take them out? the dreads are going a bit lumpy because of the lack of movement, so I guess i should take the bands off, but where the bands have fallen off some of the roots, a few dreads have started to matt together, so theres about an inch of knotted hair at the bottom of two dreads.

Help? Would be muchly appreciated xD I am going to uni in two weeks and I'd like to get them at least a little presentable before I go :)

    Thanks :piggy:

Edit: XD A third problem :p a couple of dreads aren't dreading at all. They are just bundles of normal, straight hair. I've tried re-backcombing them but they just turn out the same. Ill the the bands off those... Anyone else had this problem? (My hair is naturally straight).

Hmmm 3 months, ya your suppose to be frizzy, messy and falling apart right now.
As far as the rubber bands, those need to come out asap :)
If you notice 2 dreads combining and you dont want that best to pull them apart now, before you cant.
    No need re-back comb.
Youll have lose hair, fuzz, loops, etc.
    DONT FIGHT THE MESS!
Put a hat or a bandanna on your head and dont worry so much ;)

See elastic bands have some kind of cellular reaction that gives them life.
Once alive they begin to eat your dreads...turning into a gooey monster and eventually consuming your face, I assume, ya get them out. *shivers*

And yes... everything will eventually come together.

Pretty sure fuzz is part of the long term deal.
I mean you can use some aloe to chillax it if you have to be somewhere.
But your dreads are young, you dont really wanna condition them.
Wool hats help, sleep in one. That will help the lose hair find a dread to call home.

Yea, I got bands taken out a few days after back-combing, and even then they were comming apart and not wanting to let go of my hair, you might have some serious trouble getting them out, but get them out today because its probably already too late.

    patience!

mine are two years old. i have frizz.. i have lots of loose hairs that aren't dreaded at all... (personal opinion.. messy dreads are way awesomer than 'perfect' dreads)

    ohhhh yea
and ppl who dont mind messy dreads are way way cooler then those who desire perfection too

its like which kinda person u wanna be the 1 ewhos never seen in public in anything but a 3 peice business suite or a naked fresazk covered in mud with ferns dangling from theyre hair
personaly i think the muddy naked freak would be alot more interesting then the boring yuppy

    perfection sux!!!!

think sabout it most eatting disorders and stuff are boirn outta a demand for perfectiion..in my school 3 ppl committed suicide all 3 top of theyre classes with the most potentiol..and parents insisting on nothing shoty of perfect grades...

whats percection got to do with dreading anyways dreading is partialy about freeing yourself from all that pressure towards perfection its about saying who the hell cares how i look as long as im happy
i know of at leAst 1 persoin who dreaded as a cure for her eatting sisorder, setting herself free from all the expectations and demands towards perfection

dreads should be wild!!!! crazy!! individual free and unique
    untamed
    leyt your dreads go crazy

I did the same as you with the backcombing, beading bands except I took my bands out and although it feels like you'll lose them all when you take them out I'd say take them out NOW! So much more happens without the bands. They'll change a bit but so far mine, sans bands, are really getting knotty and you'll be so much happier with them. As for the frizz, I'm with the majority. A) Patience because the best things are worth waiting for and b) love it. I think that's the magic of going au natural.xxxxx
