Yeah, Stockholm is quite expensive, sadly. (I think it's one of the most expensive cities in europe) But well, it depends if you live in the city center or in the cheaper, outer districts.

I had the same problem with my hair in Communist Czechoslovakia back before 1990, Communist police controled my ID at least 5times a day, sometimes i was even beaten by thouse Comrades. How easy to be happy.

if people can learn to accept others for the color of their skin, they can learn to accept people for the length of their hair. Then again, a lot of poeple don't accept others based on their skin. But african americans have come a long way, hippies...not so much. wtf. I don't see what the big deal it seriosuly. It's hair. who gives a fuck. I guess uptight dicknoses see it as a symbol of rebellion still. Gah. People suck /end rant

I pay mad respect to those who can stick it to the man and live their life, not the "perfect" lives societies have drawn out for us.

maybe an even better job will come along now that youre not working for someone so uptight. My sister in law's brother shaved his head once, and people thought he was a neo-nazi; they wouldn't get on an elevator with him- and would actually cross the street if they came across him. He was actually a really clean cut type too

I went the opposit way in the late eighties and have pretty much stayed there since. I shaved my head. I still keep it cut down to the scalp but arthritis makes actual shaving too difficult so every two weeks I just trim it to the scalp.

That style is acceptable and many modern new age hippies do it.

Companies probably will accept that style and you still have the advantage of saying to yourself, "Ha ha, sucked you in guy"...LOL

A boss once pestered me to cut my hair for months. He even offered a day off with pay anytime I decided to do it. I worked under heavy lighting just a foot above my head back then because the work was pretty delicate. Hot July weather, those hot lights, I was beginining to age a little, and I started taking dizzy spells and passed out once. I got that haircut that very day and have not let my hair grow that long since.

But I got that day and the next off with pay. LOL

I will let my freak flag fly,I have dropped snooty customers, and the other folks are either tollerant or deep inside wish they could be so free, my beard is coming in nicely,so I guesse my next step, is start trimming horses in my bare feet, nah that wouldn't be good, this one lady freaked out when I shod a horse while wearing berkenstocks, I seem to really freak alot of people out
    God bless

OK, for the religious retards with hangups about men with long hair, here's a thought: not only did Jesus have long hair, so did Samson. Samson in fact was not allowed to cut his hair, a command that came from God. There was a whole sect of men called Nazarites that took a vow never to cut their hair. So, if God really is consistent and his rules do not change or differ from person to person. . . I think this says that long hair on a guy is not wrong. DUH.

I thought like you, no one in Oregon is going to trip out on me for having the long hair beard , counterculture look, but she did, she does not represent the majority, not even the minority, it was just a case of what the heck just happened. Horse people ARE different, they expect everybody to be just like them, the short hair belt buckle type, well throw me into the mix, and you have a dude that is not like them, but has to deal with them, I

don't know what just happened, but anyway before the cornputer went weird on me, I love horses, and if I can't handle the people I should stay on the porch, well in a way I have, now I only do friends horses, and they do not seem to have a problem with the way I am, I am thinking about using the "holistic" approach to the situation, if I could just get some hemp shoes figured out, people are strange when your a stranger, faces look ugly when your alone.
    Peace love and hugs

I'm not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I've always been a freak. So I've been a freak all my life and I have to live with that, you know. I'm one of those people.-John Lennon

Don't let her get you down,be proud of who and what you are,and hopefully, you'll be able to find a job where they accept you.(hope this helps a little)

Back in the 50s when I was 14 years old and 6' 2",my dickweed of a dad used to haul me down to the barber and say"give this boy a mans haircut" if it even touched my ears.I hated crew cuts.Shit I hated that so much,I moved in with a friend and finished school hair cut-less.Couldn't get away from it tho--gym teacher shoved some money in my pocket at school and told me to "get a hair cut boy".So a friend and I ditched and went to the local pool hall for the afternoon --on the teacher. It was a little un-nerving sometimes to have longer hair back then.It wasn't down to my ass like the 60s,but long enough to get hassled. I think it might show lack of intelligence to be that up tight about something basically so trivial.-----------forgot to add=the grownups around me back then would say"whaterya--some kind 'a beatnik?

    willow2,

Your story is sad. Intolerance is upsetting where ever it shows up, but at least the woman was honest with you.

This story, however, has me outraged:
I dunno WHAT to make of that one. That is just cold!

I just hope no one in his family ever gets sick. Payback is a B.
