I don't think I've posted this before, but I've an atrocious memory... Any unicyclists here? I got a unike for my birthday, as my family knows I love juggling and whatnot. The odd thing is, I can't ride a bike, and I've had several bikes throughout my life, and tried to learn for years. I had been planning on buying a unike myself, and my friends said I was mad, seeing as I can't cycle. My logic was....it's half the bike, so half the work. It worked. Could uni by the next morning. I actually broke my first unike by doing bunny-hops...apparently it wasn't a "Freestyle" one, so it couldn't only ride, not do tricks. The manufacturers sent me out a free replacement. I'm going to buy a Freestyle or Street one in the next week or so, and I'd like to get either a Road or Mountain one as well(I'll probably get the Munike...it'd be able to do long-distance like the Roadster, but with the added bonus of being able to take wilderness roughage). Anywho...anyone else got a unike? Can you do any tricks? Given the frailty of my current model, I'm just working on riding along the sides of kerbs, idling(so I'll be able to juggle on it), and going backwards.
Naw I don't, but I love watching unicyclists and I saw a kid practicing in the street a few months ago.
a unicycle was my only transport for like 5 years twice i did the trip from nyc to dc by unicycle..maybe 500 miles? unicycles are so awesome
oh & as far as tricks, just like bunny hops stairs (both up & down) & almost perfected 1 using my feet on the wheel itself instead of pedals while playing guitar (badly..lol) did lil offroading oh & tried an 8 foot tall one once, that was fun
Well, Kether, don't feel too bad about not being able to ride a bike--I can't either, and I'm almost 38! LOL I do have one of those adult size tricycles, though, and I love it! But in answer to your question, yes, I did have a unicycle at one time--I got it for Xmas when I was 9 years old--and I have to say that was about the coolest gift I ever got! I couldn't find anyone to teach me to ride it, so I tried to teach myself to ride it--and needless to say, I didn't get too far with it!
Unicycles are great. I can't ride them. Last time I went to the juggling store, I saw something like a unicycle, but it had no seat and no pedals, just two platforms attached to the front sides of the wheel to put your feet on (they didn't spin with the wheel, of course). A friend of mine tried it. It looked painful.
