Ive been reading about the cycle of re-births in bhuddism and my question is so the reason that im here as a human is because my past life had good kamma? or is being born a human a random selsction
I think it depends on what you were in your past life. Were you an animal in your past life, or were you a god? If your previous life was a dog, you were in the animal realm and you had good kamma so you were reborn into the human realm. If you were a god in your past life, you were in the heavenly realm and you probably used up your good kamma so you were reborn into the human realm. But I'm speaking as someone whose knowledge of rebirth in Buddhism is not much, so take what I said with a grain of salt.
i appreciate any responses. im really interested in bhuddism and im trying to follow the teachings however i find it really hard to understand and follow something in which you have so many questions about. and not like dumb questions i feel like the questions are crucial to actually following what bhuddism is. but hey maybe there arent answers and maybe there isnt a "right" way to follow maybe wat we know we cant figure out and we just gotta take it and use idk clarity would be nice
no such thing as a stupid question. I wouldn't put too much weight on worrying how or why you were born as a human. In Buddhism, what is primary, is how you should now live as a human. According to Buddhist doctrine, one's birth is according to Vipaka (the fruits of karma). But it isn't really useful to speculate on what you may or may not have been in a previous life, or even if you really had previous lives. I think the proper understanding of karma is to consider how it will shape who you are now, in the future. We are always creating ourselves, everything we do will determine the state of our existence, cause and effect. You could say you are a human because of past action, You could say you are a human because of evolution You could say that god shaped you out of clay. The fact is, you are a human. So what are you going to do about it? Hope that was helpful
