No worries man, I like helping people all that I can...
your best bet would be to find a hydro shop around you if you can. If you're in the UK you shouldnt have much trouble....

If yer worried about blowing a fuse just figure out how much power you have to work with:
    amps = watts/volts

For instance, a 600w bulb on a 120v circuit = 5 amps... if you look right on the fuse it should say how many amps it can handle...

I always reccomend ak47 for first time growers... it's strong as hell, smells and tastes pretty nice, yields big, and is super easy to grow... if you cant afford the serious seeds version, nirvana has a knockoff called ak48 that's supposed to be pretty nice... most of the phenos I got back in the day smelled just like cherry ludens....

We are getting most of our things from a local ethnobotany shop, and they are very helpful. There web shop does not list all the things they have thou. I'd really like to try some of the Joint Doctors strains, but me and my mate have fallen in love with Seedsman
    Sugar Haze
witch our local shop carries. Then again we also both know that the first grow will be the hardest, so something easy would be smart.

Ya my fuse box can only handle like 10 amps on the main light circuit breaker and that runs 2 computers(400 and a 600 watt), stereo, refrigerator 24/7 plus a few light bulbs.. I really don't know how much the computers actually pull..

The inside just needs to be painted, and the (purchased) 400w lamp needs to be hung up, bottom insulation.. and of course the front, you can see the doors on the second picture, standing up against the cabinet..

Thanks for all the positive reply's.. I still think it's a little ghetto =P

Looking good... with a little bit of weatherstripping in the right areas that will be lightproof, looks great already, you guys have an awesome start...

Are you germing those seeds with the 400? HIDs are a bit much for seedlings IMO... It is true that you can never have enough light/lumens, but if you keep the 400 close to those tiny pots they will dry out the soil because of heat... and if you keep it too far away the seedlings will stretch way too much... if you had a stronger exhaust I might not have said anything but Id rather ask and save the ya trouble... what are your temps like?

Room temps are between 22C (71.6F) and 27C (80.6F), humidity is impossible to get high thou :( we are at 48-55 %

Ya the next grow will have a small room for seedlings and clippings. But we are working hard not to dry out or drown the babies.

I know that you shouldn't make them stretch, but is it crucial this early?

I'll take some pictures when i get home :)

It's not the biggest deal in the world, but it's good to avoid it... your temps are in check so I doubt that you guys will have any problems though... if they do stretch too much and fal over just use a chop stick from a chinese place (or something like it) to prop them up, works like a wonder...

^yep! And just to add.....if they do stretch abit this early, when you transplant them you can bury most of the stem........i like to bury the stem up to the first set of true leaves when i can!

Sounds like everything is in check too!! I'll be a lurkin!!!

Good tip ManiacasO! will remember that one, right now I am having some problems with the doors, as the one door does not close tight and that means the exhaust just pulls fresh air from the cracks and not the bottom. removing the cooling effect and not coming close to the little guys..

Little update, so far 16 have spread there small green leafs to the world, pictures coming when the doors are fixed, god knows how..

Go to a hardware store and find the foam weatherstripping, will fix that problem easily...

Ya, that was my first thought to, but the doors are to warped, so i just rebuilt the center piece, to be warped to ;D from here weatherstripping should be sufficient..

Little update, my part of the garden have gone hydro, more specifically dwc(deep water culture)

just wanted to put some pic's of it up :)

So far it has 3 of those bubble rocks and quite a big pump, where only 1 of 2 exit's are being used..

When first transplanting them, I totally fu*ked it up, by trying to have them in net pots with coco.. of course all the coco flushed out the bottom and the plants ended up in the bottom with there roots exposed.. I quickly transplanted them into rock wool.. The big question now is if they'll survive or will they be scared for life..

I can't really get a shot of the final product, we'll get one when I borrow a camera

When the light was out i took some pics of the final setup and the plants, here they are :)

My friends plants are stretching a little, so he's going to transplant today, but how far away would you place the lamp, with a plant this size

minor update, my friends plants are really flourishing, til he nute burned em, don't think you can quite see on the picture, but they are just about to be flushed...

One more picture of a little minor upgrade I made to my dwc.. my babies are totally devastated after being transplanted and subject to way to high PH values, because Flora Micro is PH "stabilizing" and I did not check them when I was a sleep, so the PH jumped to 8-8.5 over night :(

keeping them healthy is not as easy as I might have thought it to be, but i think they are slowly recovering. I have also bought a EC Meter for better control. The EC meter also made me realize that my tap water is really hard, as it has a ec value of about 0.4-0.6

Does any one have any experience with reverse osmosis? expensive? water waste?
