I don't like the names.

 

I saw silver my zion and thought they were boring and canadian

I have liked some of Godspeed, and Mogwai I have heard, but in general I don't like the genre

 

my friend likes sleepmakeswaves, you can find them on myspace

I like explosions in the sky, im not too keen on the more post-metal stuff though

 

Well I don't like post-metal. I actually don't like any kind of metal.

 

even symphonic metal? I like some metal bands.

Who are your favourite post-rockers then?

 

Yeah, I am not into really heavy guitar stuff.

I pretty much listed my favorites above. Mogwai and GYBE are probably my two favs, though I like Tortoise a lot also.

 

I have never listened to tortoise, I like the one album of godspeed i've heard though

some heavy bands seem to use their heaviness as an excuse to be boring, some however are interesting.

 

I like some Merzbow, but they're not really post-rock.

 

haven't heard of tortoise, but i love gybe and explosions in the sky... dangermoose introduced me to gybe while doing shrooms... it was freaky and sad, but really nice at the same time...

Yup, that's from the introduction to their first album, which I was listening to just a few hours ago. Good stuff!

 

I went through a Godspeed stage for a little while there, but I have come to the conclusion now that it takes more talent to create an overt, structured, lyrically brilliant song.

well you were right about godspeed you! black emperor as being awesome, and i know your taste, while not perfectly aligned with my own, is generally very good, and i'll want to look up these artists.

i remember hearing tortoise once and liking it well enough, but do not remember the actual song so much as whether i liked it much

 

GYBE and Mogwai are two of my all time fave bands. Sigur Ros is pretty sweet too, but much lighter.

then tortoise is right flipping up there. still behind talk talk. Which I think is still the best.
