For those of you who prefer their soles black, what is the most extreme thing you will do to ensure that you achieve that look? I find working out with my jump rope does the trick. Somebody else told me that skipping on the pavement also does the trick. I'd like to hear what works for you.
As I have to take the subway (partly) to get to work (which is going to happen in a short while, as my vacation of 3 weeks of 24/7 barefooting is over, alas), the black soles come automatically. Even though the floors (smooth stone tiles) in subway stations look clean in plain eyesight, there is still lots of fine dust which will cling to bare soles immediately, leaving them very black. Otherwise, I don't do anything special to blacken my soles. Cityfooting does that by itself. Barefootedly yours, ~*Ganesha*~
I'll avoid wet places and grass so the filth gets rubbed in more. If you stick to the pavement and off natural terrain your feet wont get any natural cleaning. Some carpets will brush the soles and take the dust off. I do prefer natural trails though. If you're in an urban area you're sure to get black bottomed feet quicker than someone rural.
Parking lots and garages, stadium floors, Home Depot floors, and oiled dirt roads get/keep your feet black. Stepping in spilled syrup by a soda vending machine will ensure they stay black! City streets, oil spots, subway stations are also great places. One of my ex-gf's who was also a hardcore city barefooter loved to stand on my feet with hers if we stood in line. My tops got coal black too!
aww that's so cute! I'm a dork. Just the walk from my car to wal-mart pretty much ensures that my feet get black. Not to mention after I walk around inside wal-mart.
You don't have to do anything extreme to blacken the soles. But, if you want something extreme, firewalking is great. The ashes stick firmly to the soles and it's difficult to wash them. It takes several days until they fade away.
at selfservice car washes, the drying/vacuuming area .. my feet always get really black especially if it hasn't rained for some time.
Doing silly things such as putting cigarettes & matches out on your soles make nice marks, although I'd love to give firewalking a go. However, as you can see in my pics all I need to do is spend a day barefoot at work to get filthy soles.
my soles get pretty black just running around in my city, riding busses, walking on pavement, walking into stores, walking on urban parking lots.
I generally don't seek to darken my soles, though it is strangely satisfying to see them black after walking around in a supermarket. In my town, they are the most convenient place to walk away from with dark soles.
